    Abstract: An engine has, for each cylinder, a combustion chamber and a combustion pre-chamber communicating with the combustion chamber. First and second spark plugs are associated with the pre-chamber and combustion chamber, respectively. Gasoline is injected by an injector device directly into the combustion chamber and/or by an injector device into a cylinder intake duct. There is no device for injecting gasoline, air or an air/gasoline mixture directly into the pre-chamber. The engine operates with an air/gasoline mixture substantially corresponding to stoichiometric for compatibility with an exhaust system having a trivalent catalyst. The pre-chamber is, not used for engine operation with poor dosing, but to increase resistance to engine detonation. The engine can thus be configured with a high compression ratio, with a significant reduction in fuel consumption at the same power level. The second spark plug is only activated at low and medium engine loads to stabilize combustion.

    Abstract: Particulate accumulation in a particulate filter in the exhaust line of an engine is calculated by an electronic engine control unit. When the estimated accumulated particulate mass exceeds a predetermined threshold, an automatic regeneration step of the filter is activated. An actual instantaneous burned particulate mass is calculated as a function of values indicative of the state of the filter. A temporary correction factor representing an error between a theoretical value and the actual value is calculated. The temporary correction factor is stored in a second map of correction factors, based on the engine operating conditions. During an accumulation step, the estimated instantaneous particulate mass, calculated according to the first map based on the operating conditions of the engine, is multiplied by a correction factor calculated according to the second map based on the operating conditions of the engine.

    Abstract: A system for recirculating blow-by gases into an air intake duct of an internal combustion engine includes a separating device to separate oil in a flow of blow-by gases of the engine. The separator device has an inlet for receiving blow-by gases, at least one discharge for returning the oil separated to the engine, and an outlet for clean blow-by gases. A recirculation duct connects the outlet to an air intake duct of the engine. The recirculation duct has an end connected to the intake duct by a T-connector member, with a main duct portion arranged along the intake duct and a tubular element protruding inside the main duct portion. The tubular element protruding inside the main duct portion has an annular end surface that has an irregular profile, preferably in the form of a saw-like toothed profile.

    Abstract: A foot-rest structure for the driving side of the floor of a motor vehicle comprises a foot-rest support, secured to the floor panel of the motor vehicle, a covering element mounted on said foot-rest support, and a lateral trim panel having a front edge connected to said covering element. The foot-rest support is constituted by a three-dimensional body made of plastic material, defining a three-dimensional volume projecting from the floor panel, adjacent to said lateral trim panel, and having an inclined front surface, a top surface, and at least one lateral surface, which faces the inside of the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle. The covering element is constituted by a body made of plastic material, which is arranged over said foot-rest support and has an inclined front wall arranged over said inclined front surface of the foot-rest support and defining a foot-rest surface, and a top wall and a side wall arranged over said top surface and said at least a lateral surface, respectively, of said foot-rest support. The covering element and the foot-rest support are provided with engagement elements and seats cooperating with said engagement elements for their mutual rigid connection. The front edge of the lateral trim panel is connected only to said covering element, without any direct connection to said foot-rest support. The covering element has the aforesaid inclined front wall that, on a side edge thereof facing the lateral trim panel, forms a channel in which the front edge of the lateral trim panel is received, said front edge of the lateral trim panel and said channel having engagement elements and seats cooperating with said engagement elements for rigid connection of the lateral trim panel to said covering element.
