Abstract:
A process is described for replacing at least a portion of the liquid within the annular volume of a casing system within a wellbore with a second liquid. The second liquid comprising at least one polymerizable monomer and at least one antistatic agent to control build up of static charge. The second fluid is preselected to provide a measure of control of the pressure within the annular volume as the fluid within the volume is being heated.
Abstract:
A method of accessing an embedded microcontroller, by programmably selecting pins of the microcontroller for use as test lines, receiving a scan command at an input test line pin, emulating a virtual scan path through a logical block of the microcontroller, and transmitting scan results to an output test line pin. The microcontroller can provide such emulation of scan testing in compliance with the JTAG standard for a test access port and boundary-scan architecture. The test line pins are interconnected with a test bus structure to form a scan ring with other components of a data processing system, such as a microprocessor. The emulation can be used to change a functional mode of the microcontroller, or gather diagnostic information after a system error. The microcontroller assigns a high-priority internal interrupt routine to service test line pin activity. The virtual scan path need not include all internal microcontroller resources, and the scan path can be programmably varied by the application designer.
Abstract:
A filter disposed at the distal end of an elongate guidewire. Catheters are provided for delivering the filter to, and retrieving the filter from, a treatment site. The catheters can be over-the-wire or single operator exchange. The catheters include a housing for receiving the filter therein. The housing has an atraumatic distal end.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire includes a body, a belt package, and a tread package. The tire includes a layer of rubber disposed between the body and the tread package. The layer of rubber creates a thickness of between about 0.5 millimeters and about 1.5 millimeters between the cords in the body and the cords in the belt package. The layer of rubber is fabricated from a rubber having a stiffness greater than the rubber in the body of the tire. This configuration provides a tire having improved cornering coefficient, reduced vibrational levels, and less coarse road noise with only a small increase in rolling loss.
Abstract:
A converter circuit is specified for voltage maintenance in an electrical AC supply network (1), with the electrical AC supply network (1) having an associated voltage source (UR; US; UT) for each phase (R; S; T) for supplying an electrical load (2), with the converter circuit having a respective inverter (3) for each phase (R; S; T), which inverter (3) is connected on the DC side via an energy-storage capacitor (4) to a supply device (5). On the AC side, each inverter (3) is connected in series between the associated voltage source (UR; US; UT) and the electrical load (2) in the respective phase (R; S; T), and in that, on the AC side, the supply device (5) is connected to at least two phases (R; S; T) between the associated voltage sources (UR; US; UT) and the respective inverters (3).
Abstract:
A derrick, especially a drilling rig derrick, including a derrick structure and lifting tackle for a load, for example, a drill string, in the derrick structure. The lifting tackle includes guideways in parallel relation which each includes a vertical main guide rail (4, 7), a storage guide rail (5, 8) parallel thereto, and in a lower portion of the derrick a connecting guide portion (6, 9) between the two said rails, a rack (10, 11) are slidably arranged in each guideway which racks (10, 11) are divided into successive, preferably hingedly interconnected rack segments (12, 13) designed to bear against one another when the rack (10, 11) or when a part thereof is in the vertical main guide rail (4, 7) the main guide rail (4, 7) being designed for horizontal support of the rack segment (12, 13), a load-being yoke (22) supported on the rack (10, 11) in the respective vertical main guide rails (4, 7), and a driving gear (25) including a driving gearwheel (26, 27, 28) in driving engagement with the rack (12, 13), in the respective vertical guide rails (4, 7).

Abstract:
A safety type cap for medicinal and similar containers capable of effecting a tight seal upon the container opening by means of a sealing flange extending laterally from the inner surface of the cap top, and which is deflected centripetally upon contact with the inner surface of the mouth of the container to result in resiliently bowing the top wall of the cap to result in increased outward pressure applied to the flange against the inner mouth surface. The radial thickness of the flange is substantially greater than the thickness of the cap top, so that the flange maintains a substantially undistorted shape during compression.
Abstract:
A light weight portable device that may be utilized to save soap by subjecting the remnants of bars of soap to compression to reform the remnants into a solid bar of desired configuration, and surplus water associated with the remnants being discharged from the device during the reforming operation. After the remnants have been reformed into a solid bar, the bar may be ejected from the device by a simple manual operation. The device is particularly adapted to being formed in its entirety from a polymerized resin such as polyethylene, polypropyline or the like by conventional molding techniques.
