Abstract: A bundled tube fuel nozzle assembly includes a fuel injector and a tube bundle comprising a plurality of tubes that provide for fluid communication through a forward plate, a fuel plenum and an aft plate of the bundled tube fuel nozzle assembly. Each tube includes an inlet defined at an upstream end of the tube and an outlet defined at a downstream end of the tube. The fuel injector is disposed upstream from the inlets of each of the tubes. The upstream end of each tube is noncircular and includes at least one side portion that abuts a complementary upstream end side portion of an immediately adjacent tube of the plurality of tubes. The downstream end of each tube may be circular and is spaced apart from the downstream ends of immediately adjacent tubes of the plurality of tubes.

Abstract: A method for repairing a bundled tube fuel injector includes removing a portion of a pre-mix tube, aligning a tube tip with the remaining portion pre-mix tube and fixedly connecting the tube tip to the pre-mix tube. The method may further include removing an aft plate and an outer shroud from the bundled tube fuel injector so as to expose the pre-mix tube.

Abstract: A fuel nozzle includes a first plate, a second plate axially spaced from the first plate, a shroud extending between the first plate and the second plate, thereby defining a plenum. Tubes extend through the first plate, the plenum, and the second plate. An inlet of each tube is defined through the first plate, and an outlet of each tube is located downstream of the second plate. The tube inlets have a first size, the tube outlets have a second size different from the first size, and the walls defining the tubes have a transition portion between the inlet and the outlet. The transition portion has an axial length from the fuel injection port to a location having a diameter of the second size. The transition portion of a first tube extends a first axial length and the transition portion of a second tube extends a different second axial length.

Abstract: A gas turbine that includes: a combustor coupled to a turbine that together define a working fluid flowpath; a compressor discharge cavity; a staged injector; stator blade airfoils extending between inboard and outboard sidewalls; and a first and second coolant flowpath. The first coolant flowpath includes: an intake section connected to the compressor discharge cavity and a downstream port formed through the inboard sidewall; an outtake section including a downstream port connected to the staged injector and an upstream port formed through the outboard sidewall; and a cooling circuit through the airfoil. The second coolant flowpath includes: an intake section connected to the compressor discharge cavity and a downstream port formed through the outboard sidewall; an outtake section that comprises a downstream port connected to the staged injector and an upstream port formed through the inboard sidewall; and a cooling circuit through the airfoil.

A one-way continuous coolant flowpath that includes: an intake section that comprises an upstream port connected to the compressor discharge cavity and a downstream port formed through one of the inboard and outboard sidewalls; an outtake section that comprises a downstream port connected to the staged injector and an upstream port formed through the other one of the inboard and outboard sidewalls; and a cooling circuit extending through an interior of the airfoil of the stator blade and connecting to the downstream port of the intake section and the upstream port of the outtake section.

Abstract: A combustor with axially staged fuel injection includes a plurality of nozzle segments annularly arranged about a center fuel nozzle. Each nozzle segment includes a fuel plenum partially defined between a forward plate and an aft plate and a plurality of tubes that extends through the fuel plenum and the aft plate. A panel fuel injector extends axially downstream from the aft plate and includes an outer wall, an inner wall, a plurality of outlets defined along at least one of the outer wall and the inner wall and a plurality of premix channels defined between the outer wall and the inner wall. Each premix channel is in fluid communication with a fuel supply, a compressed air supply and a respective outlet of the plurality of outlets.

Abstract: A gas turbine that includes a working fluid flowpath extending aftward from a forward injector in a combustor. The combustor may include an inner radial wall, an outer radial wall, and, therebetween, a flow annulus. A staged injector may intersect the flow annulus so to attain an injection point within the working fluid flowpath by which aftward and forward annulus sections are defined. Air directing structure may include an aftward intake section that corresponds to the aftward annulus section and a forward intake section that corresponds to the forward annulus section. The air directing structure may be configured to: direct air entering through the aftward intake section through the aftward annulus section in a forward direction to the staged injector; and direct air entering through the forward intake section through the forward annulus section in an aftward direction to the staged injector.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a panel fuel injector having a first side wall that defines a plurality of first side injection outlets and a second side wall that defines a plurality of second side injection outlets. A premix air plenum, a fuel plenum, a plurality of first side premixing channels and a plurality of second side premixing channels are defined between the first side wall and the second side wall. Each first side premixing channel is in fluid communication with the premix air plenum, the fuel plenum and a respective first side injection outlet of the plurality of first side injection outlets. Each second side premixing channel is in fluid communication with the premix air plenum, the fuel plenum and a respective second side injection outlet of the plurality of second side injection outlets.

Abstract: A segmented annular combustion system includes an alternating arrangement of fuel nozzles and integrated combustor nozzles. The fuel nozzles deliver fuel to the primary combustion zones. The integrated combustor nozzles include an inner liner segment, an outer liner segment, and a fuel injection panel extending between the liner segments. The fuel injection panel includes injection outlets on one or both side walls to deliver a combustible mixture to the secondary combustion zones. Each fuel injection panel, which provides a boundary between adjacent primary and secondary combustion zones, includes an aft end that defines a turbine nozzle. The segmented annular combustion system is part of a gas turbine.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an annular combustion system. The annular combustion system includes an inner liner and an outer liner that define therebetween an annulus that circumscribes a centerline of the combustion system. The annulus includes a plurality of primary combustion zones defined at an upstream end thereof and further defines a plurality of secondary combustion zones downstream of the primary combustion zones. The annular combustion system further includes a plurality of fuel nozzles where at least one fuel nozzle discharges a combustible mixture into a respective primary combustion zone of the plurality of primary combustion zones. A plurality of panel fuel injectors is disposed between adjacent fuel nozzles. The plurality of panel fuel injectors extends in an axially downstream direction so as to separate adjacent primary combustion zones. Each panel fuel injector discharges a combustible mixture into at least one secondary combustion zone.
