Abstract:
An apparatus operable to seal an opening in an aircraft fuel tank during a pressure test of the fuel tank is described. The apparatus includes a substantially dome shaped body having a perimeter. The body further includes a rim extending in an orthogonal direction about the perimeter and a flange extending in a normal direction from the rim and about the perimeter. The flange is sized to engage the fuel tank about the opening. The apparatus further includes a sealing gasket proximate an intersection of the rim and the flange, extending completely around the perimeter. The seal is oriented to provide a sealing function between the fuel tank and the body as pressure is increased within the fuel tank.
Abstract:
A thermoformer apparatus has sheet supporting rails which are divided into sections hinged together to facilitate widening of the spacing between the rails with adjuster drive mechanism as the sheet moves through an oven to eliminate sagging of the sheet as it becomes heated. Thermoformer chains are driven by a pair of independently operable servo motors each associated with a respective thermoformer chain.
Abstract:
A portable data storage device compatible with both standard and high definition digital video cameras is provided. The device includes at least one SDI I/O, and preferably at least one audio I/O and preferably at least one medium speed I/O interface. A device controller takes the high speed serial data, packetizes it, and then sends it out to a plurality of memory modules. Preferably each memory module includes four NAND clusters, each NAND cluster consisting of a flash memory controller and two NAND flash memories. Interposed between the device controller and the memory modules are a plurality of memory controllers, each memory controller controlling a group of memory modules. A user interface is coupled to the device controller, the interface including a display capable of at least two user-selectable orientations, record/playback controls and a four-way directional control pad.
Abstract:
A method of quickly and accurately associating a customer name and address with a unique RFID identification tag to be used on a waste or recyclable materials container by the customer. A self-adhesive RFID label including an embedded RFID identification tag is provided in an envelope. Using a hand-held RFID tag reader or more preferably, an RFID reader mounted in a printer coupled to a computer device, a customer name and address is selected from a database and printed on an envelope or directly on the RFID label. Using the RFID reader in the printer and while the customer name and address is being printed, the unique RFID identification number from the RFID identification tag is read, provided to the computer device and automatically inserted into the customer database record, thereby associating the unique RFID identification tag number with the customer record. The RFID label is then delivered (mailed) to or picked up by the customer, all without need to send someone to a customer site to read the RFID tag associated with a waste or recycle bin and associated with the customer record. The customer can then easily apply the self-adhesive label with the RFID tag to their appropriate waste or recycle container.
Abstract:
A method of processing seismic data comprises processing data representative of the acceleration wavefield so as to obtain information about the earth's subsurface direct from the seismic data representative of the acceleration wavefield. In conventional techniques for processing seismic data representative of the acceleration wavefield the data are transformed to the velocity domain at an early stage in the processing. The invention enables the transform step to be eliminated, thereby simplifying the processing and eliminating the risk that the transform might degrade the data. Furthermore, the increased sensitivity at high frequencies of a typical acceleration sensor compensates for the low-pass filter effect of the earth.
Abstract:
Dynamic allocation of connections is performed in a communication network. When a new connection request is received by the network management system this request can be accepted or rejected. In case it is accepted, the connection can be set up by allocating new or reconfiguring existing connection resources. The reconfiguration options are constrained to a set of allowed reconfigurations which is a subset of the set of all possible reconfigurations of the existing connections on the network.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a cable; and a gel-based filler material, seismic sensors that are disposed in the cable. The seismic sensors are suspended in pockets, and each pocket contains a material that has a shear stiffness that is less than a shear stiffness of the gel-based filler material to attenuate a flow noise.
Abstract:
An improved modular flavor dispenser for dispensing a plurality of different flavors is shown and described. One disclosed modular flavor dispenser includes a controller that is linked to a coordinator or interface with a controller associated with the food or beverage dispenser. For example, an automated coffee machine may include its own controller. The controller of the coffee machine communicates with the coordinator or interface of the modular flavor dispenser which, in turn, communicates with the motor control board or controller of the flavor dispenser. The flavor coordinator board may have a memory with a plurality of recipes stored therein or that information may be communicated from the controller of the coffee machine. The flavor coordinator board is linked to the motor control board which, in turn, is linked in parallel with the plurality of pumps used to dispense the variety of flavors. In the example of gourmet coffee, four or more pumps may be used: vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon, caramel, chocolate as well as other flavors. Improved techniques for pumping chocolate syrup are also disclosed that involve the use of nutating piston-type pumps.
Abstract:
A method for performing business control task notification is proposed. The method comprises processing a combination of one or more databases and one or more user profiles to generate a schedule template and receive a request for a schedule. A computer program product compares attributes of the request for the schedule to a user profile and a schedule template to identify one or more events of the schedule template to be accessed from one or more of a plurality of distributed databases and forms a query to be sent to the one or more distributed databases. The query is sent to a particular database among the plurality of distributed databases. The computer program product receives a positive response to the query, indicating that the particular database contains a first event for the schedule, and the event. In response to receiving the event, the schedule is created. The schedule is stored. One or more current events in the schedule requiring a notification are identified, and the notification is sent to a destination.
