Abstract:
A method in a first user equipment (UE 1) connectable to a second user equipment (UE 2) via a communication network or via a direct radio communication link, of using a direct radio communication link for communication between the UEs is initiated when one of the UEs receives probe signaling information comprising a first probe token via the communication network. The UEs exchange probe signaling messages including a second and/or the first probe token at least partly according to the probe signaling information, such that one of the UEs can compare the probe tokens, generate a probing report and provide the probing report to the communication network, or to the opposite UE for evaluation in case of a successful comparison and such that a direct radio communication link can be used for communication with UE 2 in response to receiving instructions to use the second direct radio communication link from the entity by which the probing report was evaluated.
Abstract:
Method and arrangement in a mobile terminal in a wireless communication system, for supporting a handover from a serving cell to a target cell. The method comprises determining 104a if the mobile terminal has moved in a predefined way in relation to at least one potential target cell. The determining is based on Doppler shift measurements 102a. The method further comprise adjusting 106a at least one handover related parameter, in order to enable a fast handover, when it is determined that the mobile terminal has moved in the predefined way in relation to the at least one potential target cell.
Abstract:
A method in a wireless terminal (110) for sending a measurement report to a serving base station (130) before handover is provided. The wireless terminal (110) and the base station (130) are comprised in a cell in a wireless communications system. The wireless terminal (110) is arranged to use a standard size message or a reduced size message for sending a measurement report before a handover. The wireless terminal (110) obtains (601) information about the cell size and/or the system load. When the cell size exceeds a predetermined value or when the system load exceeds a predetermined value, the wireless terminal (110) sends (605) a measurement report to the base station (130), using the reduced size message.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for retransmitting data packets in a network. Further, the invention relates to an adapted system for performing the method. To improve the robustness in the transmission of an acknowledgment message by a mobile terminal to the network, while minimizing a signaling overhead, the invention provides mechanisms that optimize the retransmission of data packets and manage acknowledgement messages. The mechanisms disclosed are particular applicable to heterogeneous radio access networks.
Abstract:
The method according to the present invention provides synchronization in a heterogeneous mobile network, for the purpose of interoperability, of a wireless local area network, in which a medium is reserved for a certain service or user in radio channel reservation periods (702) of variable duration, to a radio access network, transmitting data in transmission time intervals of pre-defined duration (603). The variable duration of a radio channel reservation period (702) is defined such that it ends by a pre-defined time period (609) before the end of a transmission time interval (603). The method may be implemented in an access point (1400) of a heterogeneous network as well as in a mobile station (1500).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for selecting a radio access point of a network, and a method for transmitting information on at least two radio access points of a network to a mobile terminal. Further the invention relates to an adapted mobile terminal and control entity for performing the methods, respectively. To minimize the transmission delays of acknowledgement messages sent from a mobile terminal to a control entity, the invention provides an access point selection mechanism that determines for a respective one of the at least two radio access points, a selection criterion associated to the respective radio access point. This selection criterion may be based on a transmission delay for sending acknowledgement messages via a respective access point to a control entity. Based on the determined selection criterion the mobile terminal selects one of the at least two radio access points, and sends an acknowledgement message to the control entity through the selected radio access point.
