摘要: The present invention provides systems and methods for ambulatory, long term monitoring of a physiological signal from a patient. At least a portion of the systems of the present invention may be implanted within the patient in a minimally invasive manner. In preferred embodiments, brain activity signals are sampled from the patient with an externally powered leadless implanted device and are transmitted to a handheld patient communication device for processing to estimate the patient's propensity for a seizure.

摘要: A fire retardant, transparent panel and method of making the panel, that is especially well suited for use on mobile platforms, and particularly on aircrafts. The panel is a composite of a transparent matrix and a plurality of fire-retardant nanoparticles. The nanoparticles have a diameter less than the visible spectrum of light, and in one form between about 0.1 nm to about 400 nm in diameter. The nanoparticles may be arranged randomly or in predetermined patterns within the matrix during manufacturing of the panel. The panel is lightweight, transparent and yet highly fire retardant.

摘要: A method (300) and communication device (106) capable of streamlining call setups to a wireless mobile unit (102) may include a transceiver (520) and a controller (502). In various embodiments of the invention, the controller detects (302) a modified request for a communication resource, optionally monitors (304) a communication system loading parameter, and sends (406 or 408) an assignment for a larger than anticipated allocation of the communication resource upon detecting the modified request or when the system loading parameter falls below a predetermined threshold. The controller may also receive (410) via the larger than anticipated allocation of the communication resource both an anticipated initial data transmission and an initial user data transmission in a first data transmission from the mobile wireless unit.

摘要: One determines (101) an amount of initial delay as corresponds to delivery of a file transfer service from a source to a wireless communication system. When this amount of initial delay exceeds a predetermined duration (102), one then dynamically and automatically effects (103) a predetermined action to improve a perceived quality of experience with respect to the delivery of the file transfer service.

摘要: Methods for dividing resources of base stations among multiple mobile stations are provided. According to one embodiment of the invention, an overlapping group having a plurality of mobile stations that are overlapped between at least two cellular areas are generated (310) to provide a plurality of overlapping mobile stations, which are ranked (320) based, at least in part, on at least one threshold. A maximum number of the plurality of overlapping mobile stations having a highest ranking that can be assigned with reserved frequency and timing assignments are selected (322) to provide a plurality of selected overlapping mobile stations. These selected overlapping mobile stations are assigned (324) using the reserved frequency and timing assignments.

摘要: A head gimbal assembly includes a slider assembly and a flexure tongue that cantilevers in a first direction and supports the slider assembly. The slider assembly cantilevers away from the flexure tongue in a second direction different than the first direction. A load beam imparts a force on the flexure tongue and generates a first net torque on the slider assembly. The cantilevering of the slider assembly decreases a magnitude of the first net torque on the slider assembly. The force on the flexure tongue can also generate a second net torque on the slider assembly that is oriented about a second axis different than the first axis. The slider assembly can cantilever in the second direction to decrease the magnitude of the second net torque on the slider assembly. Portions of the flexure tongue and the slider assembly can be spaced apart from one another to form a gap that is directly between the flexure tongue and the slider assembly. The flexure tongue can includes a tongue aperture and/or one or more notches that increase the deflection of the flexure tongue to decrease the first net torque.

摘要: Upon detecting (201) a communication need for a group of communication recipients that entails attempting to make at least one transmission to each of the communication recipients in the group (wherein at least one of the communication recipients has both a scheduled personal communication opportunity and a scheduled group communication opportunity), one automatically uses (202) whichever of the scheduled communication opportunities occurs first to make the at least one transmission to the communication recipient(s) for which this option applies. 摘要: According to an embodiment, a dynamic system and method for managing facility services that utilize scheduled predefined events and/or unscheduled variable events, are discussed. The dynamic system can include one or more servers, mobile devices, imaging devices, etc. designed and programmed to receive, manage, control, and/or report events from designated users. The dynamic system effectively manages the flow of work, efficiency of work and quality of work, and provides a common platform for communications within organizations, with their customers, and suppliers. The system can be effectively utilized by all service businesses and production operations to manage work flow, improve quality, minimize costs, and maximize labor utilization.
