Abstract:
A method of protecting data in the cache memory of a storage system is used to protect the data stored in the cache memory of a first storage system and a second storage system coupled together and with the battery backed function. When the first storage system and the second storage system function normally, the data in their cache memory are mutually backed up. When any of the storage system has a power failure situation, the other normal storage system takes over the malfunctioned storage device. The data in its own cache memory are protected using the battery backed function. After the malfunctioned storage system restarts, the two storage systems keep backing up the data in the cache memory of each other. This provides a thorough protection of the data in the cache memory of the storage systems, increasing the reliability thereof.
Abstract:
Fingerprint recognition and matching systems and methods are described that utilize features at all three fingerprint friction ridge detail levels, i.e., Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3, extracted from 1000 ppi fingerprint scans. Level 3 features, including but not limited to pore and ridge contour characteristics, were automatically extracted using various filters (e.g., Gabor filters, edge detector filters, and/or the like) and transforms (e.g., wavelet transforms) and were locally matched using various algorithms (e.g., the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm). Because Level 3 features carry significant discriminatory and complementary information, there was a relative reduction of 20% in the equal error rate (EER) of the matching system when Level 3 features were employed in combination with Level 1 and Level 2 features, which were also automatically extracted. This significant performance gain was consistently observed across various quality fingerprint images.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses provide for incremental provisioning of software for a processing system. For instance, a processing system may include a machine accessible medium and a processor in communication with the machine accessible medium. In addition, instructions encoded in the machine accessible medium may cause the processing system to automatically determine whether a storage device in the processing system includes modified blocks, based at least in part on a write log file that identifies blocks that were modified during a user session on the processing system. In response to identifying at least one modified block in the storage device, the processing system may automaticaUy replace data in the modified block with backup data from a different storage device. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A method to play a game of chance using a map of sites (11) as playing surface (10) with moving pieces called movers (12). The game rules a plurality of movements. A random draw of one ruled movement moves a mover from one site to another. Players bet on selected movers moving by one or several rounds of drawing to selected sites. The holder of a hanging bet ticket earns credit to place free make-up bets. The winning probability of a bet and the calculation of payout and credit will be provided. An automatic computer/video version of the game is included.
Abstract:
Disclosed are novel pyrimido compounds that are selective inhibitors of both KDR an FGFR kinases and are selective against LCK. These compounds and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are anti-proliferative agents useful in the treatment or control of solid tumors, in particular breast, colon, lung and prostate tumors. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds and methods of treating cancer.
Abstract:
A color-identifying system for colored barcode and a method thereof. The system includes a picture-processing sensor for picking up picture data, an MCU for processing the picture data and an LCD for showing the processed data. The color-identifying method for the colored barcode includes steps of obtaining data, removing major noise, removing minor noise, expansion treatment, finding out center of black block, finding out suitable four-point combination black blocks and barcode information analysis.
Abstract:
An axial leaded over-current protection device comprised of a plurality of PTC devices, a first terminal metal strip, and a second terminal metal strip. One end of the first terminal metal strip diverges into a plurality of electrode strips, and the plurality electrode strips are connected to an electrode layer of each PTC device. The second terminal metal strip is connected to the other electrode layer of each PTC device, i.e., the one not being connected to the first terminal metal strip. Accordingly, the first terminal metal strip and second terminal metal strip are respectively connected to the two electrode layers of each PTC device and become in parallel thereby, so that the resistance of the over-current protection device can be decreased.
Abstract:
A knife assembly includes a handle, a blade magazine detachably mounted in the handle, and a plurality of blades mounted in the blade magazine. Thus, the blade magazine is released from the handle easily and rapidly, thereby facilitating a user replacing the blades contained in the blade magazine. In addition, the blade magazine is mounted to the handle easily and conveniently, thereby facilitating the user mounting the blade magazine. Further, the blade magazine contains a plurality of blades, thereby facilitating the user carrying the blades.
Abstract:
The present invention proposes a synchronous rectifier with burst mode control. A synchronous rectifier includes a transformer having a primary winding electrically connected to a power source, a secondary winding, a first auxiliary winding, and a second auxiliary winding, a first switch and a second switch electrically connected to the secondary winding and control terminals of the first switch and the second switch individually connected to the first and second auxiliary windings for being either self-driven directly from voltages of the auxiliary windings, a third switch electrically connected between the first switch and the first auxiliary winding in series, a fourth switch electrically connected between the second switch and the second auxiliary winding in series, a detecting circuit electrically connected to an output terminal of the synchronous rectifier for detecting a load status, and a control circuit electrically connected to the detecting circuit for enabling the third switch and the fourth switch when the load status is at a heavy load and disabling the third switch and the fourth switch when the load status is at a light load.
