    Abstract: A method for deterministic directional discovery of neighbor devices by a device in a wireless network comprises dividing equally an access time to a discovery channel to predefined number of sector scanning periods (410), wherein each sector scanning period includes a predefined number of discovery sweep periods (430), and each discovery sweep period includes a predefined number of time slots (440); scanning the discovery channel in a single sector during a current sector scanning period (S310); transmitting a discovery frame towards each sector during each time slot of each discovery sweep period of the current sector scanning period (S320); checking if at least one response to a transmitted discovery frame has been received during the current sector scanning period (S330); and setting the device to scan the discovery channel in a next sector during a next sector scanning period, thereby sequentially accessing the predefined number of sector scanning periods (S35).

    Abstract: A method to operate simultaneous races providing racecourses (10) printed on bet slips and scheduling draws of random numbers for racer advancements. On a bet slip, the player marks one selectable spot for a racer to start and none to scratch a racer, and also selects which forthcoming draws will be applicable to advance racers. Make-up bets can be placed between advancements. Besides, a 1-race bet winner can earn cash payoff or non-cashable credit to wager like cash. The ticket holder of a hanging multi-race bet has the option to trade in hanging credit for placing other bets. How to calculate advancement probabilities, winner credits, hanging credits and specific house edge formulas for payoffs will be provided. An automatic computer/video version of the game is included.

    Abstract: Imaging spectrometers can be used to generate hyperspectral images for medical diagnoses, contaminant detection, and food safety inspections, among other applications. An exemplary imaging spectrometer includes an integrated position sensing array that measures the relative positions of the interferometer components based on an interference pattern generated by illuminating the interferometer with a reference beam. Such an imaging spectrometer includes a processor that controls the interferometer component position by actuating a voice coil and several piezo-electric elements to align the components with respect to each other and to provide a desired optical path length mismatch between the interferometer arms. In some cases, the processor may use feedback and feed forward control, possibly based on the actuators' transfer functions, for more precise positioning. The processor may also implement adaptive and recursive spectral sampling to reduce the image acquisition period.

    Abstract: A chip-scale packaging method, with bottom and side of a semiconductor chip encapsulated, includes the following steps: attaching backside of a thinned semiconductor wafer to a dicing tape; separating individual chips by cutting from front side of the wafer at scribe line but not cut through the dicing tape; flipping and attaching the wafer onto a top surface of a double-sided tape, then removing the dicing tape; attaching bottom surface of the double-sided tape on a supporting plate; filling the space between adjacent chips and covering the whole wafer backside with a molding material; flipping the whole structure and remove the supporting plate; placing solder balls at corresponding positions on electrodes of each chip and performing backflow treatment; finally separating individual chip packages by cutting through molding material at the space between adjacent chip packages with molding material encapsulating the bottom and side of each individual semiconductor chip.
