摘要: Trimming machine for wood, particularly a trimming saw for trunks, comprising a machine casing, two lateral cutting tools for cutting a trunk on two non adjacent sides, transport means for bringing the trunk for cutting, separation means for separating wood shavings or chips on both sides of the cut trunk and cutting means on at least one side of the cut trunk, adjacent to both sides. According to the invention, the separation means consist of surfaces which are inclined with respect to the work surface and lift the wood shavings or chips above the third side of the trunk.

摘要: The chainsaw apparatus of the present invention, comprising in part, a combination saw attachment and positioning assembly which in concert with a transverse guide rail assembly and a vertical level control assembly allows using a chain saw to alternatively make a cut or a series of cuts in either a vertical or horizontal plane, with said saw blade oriented in a longitudinal cutting direction, in a sawmill device; providing thus for making a cant without turning the log and for making dimensionally accurate cuts of lumber from a log or similar wood based substrate with a minimal number of cutting passes; a blade orientation fine tuning assembly allows of refining a true vertical or horizontal planar attitude of the blade. Two speed mechanical assist gantry travel and a double acting remote chain saw safety switch and throttle trigger control is also provided. No tools are needed to alter and maintain the planar arrangement of the chain saw or the position of the saw carriage section along the transverse guide rail assembly of the gantry of the sawmill. The apparatus is modular and can be assembled and used by one person and is transportable in a van or pickup.

摘要: A wood product assembly includes a cutter subassembly and a skewing assembly. A cutter positioning body is movable by a slewing assembly along a slewing axis. A spindle housing is mounted to the cutter positioning body for pivotal movement about a pivot axis. A spindle, to which a cutter, such as a sawblade or chipper head, is affixed, is mounted to the spindle housing for rotation about a spindle rotation axis by a cutter driver. The skewing assembly is coupled to the spindle housing to position the spindle rotation axis to a selected angular orientation to position the cutter at a selected skew angle. In some examples the cutter driver comprises a drive source fixedly secured to a frame and an extendable length universal-joint driveline assembly.

摘要: To make the usable wood volume of the tree trunks as large as possible, octagonal or dodecagonal dressed timbers are proposed from which then boards or beams with inclined edges are cut. To produce octagonal or dodecagonal dressed timbers, in a first machining stage (11) two side surfaces (13) are milled off the tree trunk, it is then turned by 90° and two additional side surfaces (19) are milled off in a second machining station (17). Immediately thereafter in another machining station (21) with four (for octagonal dressed timbers) or eight (for dodecagonal dressed timbers) milling cutters (22) the remaining rough edges (20) are milled off.

摘要: A system for estimating a velocity of a stress wave induced in a log or tree stem is used to maximize the value of wood products produced. An accelerometer is placed against the log while the log is struck with a pneumatic hammer. By monitoring the signals received at the accelerometer, the velocity of stress wave can be determined. Based on the velocity, an estimate of the modulus of elasticity (MOE) for the wood in the log is made. A price table is selected that relates different sizes of lumber having the determined modulus of elasticity to a current market value. The log is then cut such that the value of the lumber produced is maximized.

摘要: Procedure for working tree trunks by machining into wood products, such as boards and cants. In the procedure, from trunks (1) preferably trimmed on at least two sides, at first at least one side board (3) is sawn so that at least part of the dull edge (2) remains on the side board (3), whereupon the dull edges (2') of the side board are edged. The side board (3) is moved together with the central section (1') during the edging operation and the side board (3) and the central section (1') are kept at a distance from each other by means of a separating element (6), such as a dividing knife, at least during the edging operation.
