摘要： A sawmill utilizing a bandsaw which is movable back and forth in the operation of cutting planks from a log that is cradled in a horizontal position. The cradle and the bandsaw are so arranged that the cutting portion of the saw is inclined at an angle to the vertical and so that the cutting plane is inclined at the same angle. The bandsaw is carried on a sub-frame which reciprocates longitudinally of a main frame of the mill. The main frame is preferably mounted upon wheels so that the mill is portable and can be taken from one forestry location to another.

摘要： A bench top board scoring device is provided, having a frame having a first end and an opposite second end, a work area defined between the first and second ends, each end having at least one leg configured for contacting a substrate. A track is connected to the frame and extends between the first end and the second end, a carriage is slidably mounted to the track for travel between the first end and the second end, and an arm has an upper surface, a pivot end pivotally connected to the carriage, and an opposite knife mount end. A knife blade is mounted to the knife mount end. Additionally, the present device is constructed and arranged so that as the carriage is moved from the first end to the second end, wallboard samples placed in the work area and contacted by the knife blade receive a constant scoring force.

Directionally, this adjustment is made normal to the profile measurement dimension.

In a most preferred embodiment the band saw is pivotally mounted adjacent to the trolley carriage and log and a computerized control system is coupled to fluid-operated cylinders mounted on log-adjusting knees on the carriage and on other fluid-operated cylinders provided on the carriage itself and on the band saw and used to select and control desired cutting paths through the logs.

摘要： A band saw and a saber saw are both provided on the same table top working surface, and both are operable at the same time so that a pair of parallel cuts (either arcuate or straight) may be made in a workpiece at the same time. The saber saw blade has a vertical position thereof which is parallel to the vertical plane of the band saw blade, and the saber saw is adjustable with respect to the band saw to provide for cutting pieces of material of different widths. The saber saw blade is also pivotal from the vertical position thereof to a horizontal position wherein it is below the table top working surface, so that the band saw alone may be used. A workpiece resting member associated with the saber saw allows for pivoting of a workpiece with respect thereto to have an arcuate cut made therein by the band saw when the saber saw blade is in its horizontal position.

摘要： Log infeed apparatus for a sawmill includes log-holding arms depending from separate carriages on an overhead trackway. The trackway is positioned so that the lower, log-gripping portions of the arms move the log in the feeding line for the saws. A first endless drive line moves connected carriages at a first speed along the trackway, and a second endless drive line moves connected carriages at a second speed greater than the first speed along the trackway to facilitate the gripping and release of logs by the arms. Each log-holding arm has both a fore loggripping device facing in the infeed direction and a rear loggripping device facing in the opposite direction so that a single arm can support opposite ends of two longitudinally adjacent logs in the feeding line.

摘要： The portable sawmill is constructed on a frame having a series of mechanisms for loading and manipulating a log thereon and removing boards cut from the log. Powered tines load a log onto a vertically adjustable log deck, the deck including powered mechanisms for turning and securing the log in the desired orientation for cutting. Cuts are made by a horizontally traveling band saw. The saw has no vertical adjustment. Board thickness is determined by the height of the vertically adjustable log deck. Cut boards are removed by a board sweep that pushes the board laterally from the top of the log onto a tray. The saw travels along the tray to push the board longitudinally onto a suitable platform for transport. All of the above mechanisms are controlled hydraulically from a single operator station on the mill, thus freeing the operator from many manual tasks and increasing production.

摘要： Apparatus for in-forest cutting of lumber from felled logs is provided. The apparatus comprises a frame mounting a pair of wheels around which is trained a band saw blade. A chain saw engine is releasably connected to the frame and is coupled to one of the wheels for driving the saw blade. A carriage is mounted to the frame and is adapted to extend lengthwise of the log to enable the frame to be advanced along the log as the saw blade cuts. The carriage has a series of resilient rollers which cooperate with blade guide and stabilizer assemblies to provide a straight cut. Handles are provided at opposite ends of the frame to enable workmen to mount and to dismount the apparatus and to advance the same along the log.
