摘要: Anticipation signals are derived for each peak whenever a differential exists within a closed loop having the electrical output connected to the input thereof and a confirmation signal is derived after each peak at a threshold level of the new slope polarity exceeding the noise level of the electrical output. The amplitude of each peak is stored as a voltage level which follows the electrical output throughout either slope polarity until a peak is reached and this voltage level is continuously compared with the electrical output to derive the slope polarity thresholds. Otherwise, a very particular embodiment is disclosed with which the stored voltage level only relates to either the most significant maximum or minimum peak of the electrical output and the disclosed embodiments are related to instruments which perform spectral analysis.

摘要: For sensing the peaks of an electric signal reconverted by a magnetic head from a digital signal stored on a magnetic tape or other recording media, a half-wave rectifying diode is connected to the magnetic head via an amplifier. The output of the half-wave rectifying diode is connected directly to a resistance-capacitance differentiating circuit, without interposition of a slicer therebetween. An output from the differentiating circuit is compared with a variable level-setting reference voltage in a substantially connected comparator circuit, and the latter produces output pulses the trailing edges of which substantially correspond in time to the peaks of the output from the magnetic head. A pulse trailing edge sensing circuit connected next to the comparator circuit produces output pulses of comparatively short durations corresponding to the trailing edges of the comparator output pulses. The comparator circuit has a switching transistor for selectively varying a differential between the levels of its reference voltage in accordance with the output amplitude of the differentiating circuit.

摘要: A peak detector for electrical signal peaks including a capacitor which is charged, via a rectifying element, to a voltage corresponding to the peak value. At the end of the peak a discharging element connected parallel to the capacitor is activated for a predetermined period of time, with the result that the capacitor is discharged over a fixed fraction of its peak voltage. At the end of the predetermined period of time, the discharging element is reactivated, with the result that a substantially constant voltage remains as a reference level.

摘要: The present circuit arrangement is, for example, useful for producing reference signals in response to the rotation of a body such as a wheel or rotor to be balanced. Source signals are produced in response to the rotation of said body. Circuit means are provided for handling and comparing the source signals in such a manner that the reference signals are provided at an output terminal in response to the occurrence of the center of a source signal or in response to the maximum of a source signal. The transmittal may also be controlled in response to the center and the maximum of a source signal.

摘要: A data decoder is provided which is useful for decoding data magnetically encoded on a magnetic stripe on the back side of a credit card which may be manually moved through a reader at a variable velocity. The data is decoded by comparing the occurrence of voltage pulses after the onset of a bit interval, representing binary data encoded as magnetic flux changes, with a preselected portion of the measured time duration of the preceding bit interval. If a voltage pulse occurs after the onset but before the end of the preselected portion, the data is determined as a binary "one"; if a voltage pulse occurs after the end of the preselected portion, the data state is determined as a binary "zero".

摘要: An improved device for measuring the time of occurrence of a pulse centroid, particularly for irregularly shaped electrical pulses. An electrical pulse is fed to a first integrator whose output is fed to a summing network and a second inverting integrator. The output from the second integrator is also fed to the summing network. The output of the summing network is then fed to a zero crossing detector which provides an output related in time to the time of occurrence of the pulse centroid.

摘要: The pulses produced by a Coulter type of electronic particle analyzer having a scanning aperture have amplitudes proportional to the particle volumes; hence, random in amplitude. The pulses are variably asymmetric due to the particle scanning aperture and particle flow arrangement. The most reliable measure of particle volume is pulse amplitude at the time when the particle is halfway through the scanning aperture path. By attenuating each pulse to the same predetermined percentage of its amplitude and comparing the attenuated signal level with the original pulse in two different time spaced channels, there results two equal rectangular time-spaced pulses that separately then are integrated and compared. If the integration durations are equal, but one integral signal is attenuated to one half, then the two time-spaced integral signals will have equal amplitudes at the time center of the rectangular pulse, the symmetric time center of the original pulse. Adjustment of the slope of integration and/or attenuation of one integral signal can shift the time position. In this manner the amplitude of the particle-pulse can be strobed at its aperture path center time.

摘要: A level shifting circuit employing a passive peak detector including a transistor receiving the input signal at its emitter and having the charging capacitor between its collector and ground so that the voltage drop is only the small saturation voltage of the transistor, which varies only slightly with temperature. A discharging resistor in the base lead biases the transistor off when the input voltage drops below the peak. A signal to be level shifted is applied to the passive peak detector and a portion of the peak signal is subtracted from the signal in order to shift its level.
