    Abstract: In measuring a dimension of an object to be measured W made of a single material, a plurality of transmission images of the object to be measured W are obtained by using an X-ray CT apparatus, and then respective projection images are generated. The projection images are registered with CAD data used in designing the object to be measured W. The dimension of the object to be measured W is calculated by using a relationship between the registered CAD data and projection images. In such a manner, high-precision dimension measurement is achieved by using several tens of projection images and design information without performing CT reconstruction.

    Abstract: A first position measurement device (“FPMD”) is configured to control and operate both standalone and combined device operating modes. During the combined device operating mode, the FPMD inputs second-device measurement sample outputs provided by a second position measurement device (“SPMD”) via an inter-device communication connection. The FPMD and the SPMD are held in a fixed relationship in a workpiece measurement arrangement (e.g., with transverse measuring axes). Concurrent measurement data sets are determined as including at least a first-device measurement sample output from the FPMD and a second-device measurement sample output from the SPMD corresponding to concurrent first-device and second-device sample periods. Each concurrent measurement data set is associated with a corresponding measurement sample region on the workpiece. A combined measurement data output (e.g., as output and/or displayed by the FPMD) is provided for the current measurement sample region on the workpiece based on the corresponding concurrent measurement data set.

    Abstract: An inductive type position encoder includes a scale, a detector portion and a signal processor. The scale includes a periodic pattern of signal modulating elements (SME) arranged along a measuring axis, with a spatial wavelength W1. One type of SME in the pattern comprises similar conductive plates or loops. The detector portion comprises sensing elements and a field generating coil that generates a changing magnetic flux. The sensing elements may comprise conductive loop portions arranged along the measuring axis and configured to provide detector signals which respond to a local effect on the changing magnetic flux provided by adjacent SME's. In various implementations, the first type of SMEs have an average dimension DSME along the measuring axis direction that is greater than DSEN and at least .55*W1 and at most 0.8*W1, which provides advantageous detector signal characteristics.

    Abstract: A processing device includes: a coordinate acquisition unit that acquires a moving amount of a measuring probe and a probe output; a matrix generation unit that generates a correction matrix including linear correction elements and non-linear correction elements; and a probe output correction unit that corrects the probe output with the correction matrix. The coordinate acquisition unit acquires the moving amount and the probe output of the measuring probe in each of measurement points in a quantity larger than or equal to the sum of the number of the linear correction elements and the number of the non-linear correction elements. Consequently, a non-linear error of the probe output supplied from the measuring probe can be corrected, and thus shape coordinates of an object to be measured can be obtained with high accuracy.

    Abstract: When generating a measurement plan for measuring X-ray CT that performs X-ray irradiation while rotating a test object, and in doing so acquires projection image data, reconstructs volume data from the projection image data, and measures a targeted measurement location in the volume data, the present invention calculates required measurement accuracy and a measurement field of view range based on tolerance information included in CAD data of the test object and a measurement location on the test object defined by a measurement operator ahead of time, and automatically generates, from this information, an optimized measurement plan that minimizes the number of measurements.
