Abstract: An electronic device may include a display having an array of display pixels on a substrate. The display pixels may be organic light-emitting diode display pixels or display pixels in a liquid crystal display. In an organic light-emitting diode display, hybrid thin-film transistor structures may be formed that include semiconducting oxide thin-film transistors, silicon thin-film transistors, and capacitor structures. The capacitor structures may overlap the semiconducting oxide thin-film transistors. Organic light-emitting diode display pixels may have combinations of oxide and silicon transistors. In a liquid crystal display, display driver circuitry may include silicon thin-film transistor circuitry and display pixels may be based on oxide thin-film transistors. A single layer or two different layers of gate metal may be used in forming silicon transistor gates and oxide transistor gates. A silicon transistor may have a gate that overlaps a floating gate structure.

Abstract: An organic light-emitting diode display may have thin-film transistor circuitry formed on a substrate. The display and substrate may have rounded corners. A pixel definition layer may be formed on the thin-film transistor circuitry. Openings in the pixel definition layer may be provided with emissive material overlapping respective anodes for organic light-emitting diodes. A cathode layer may cover the array of pixels. A ground power supply path may be used to distribute a ground voltage to the cathode layer. The ground power supply path may be formed from a metal layer that is shorted to the cathode layer using portions of a metal layer that forms anodes for the diodes, may be formed from a mesh shaped metal pattern, may have L-shaped path segments, may include laser-deposited metal on the cathode layer, and may have other structures that facilitate distribution of the ground power supply.

Abstract: A display device may include rows of pixels that may display image data on a display and a circuit. The circuit may perform a progressive scan across the rows of pixels to display the image data using a plurality of pixels, supply test data to a pixel of plurality of pixels that corresponds to a first row of the rows of pixels during one frame of the progressive scan, and initiate a sensing period for determining one or more sensitivity properties associated with the pixel based on the performance of the pixel with respect to the test data in response to receiving a pulse of a first global signal. The circuit may then end the sensing period in response to receiving a second global signal and resume the progressive scan across the rows of pixels to display the image data after the sensing period ends.

Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with an organic light-emitting diode display. The display may include row driver circuitry that provides an emission control signal at an output terminal to display pixels. The emission control signals may enable or disable light emission by the pixels. The row driver circuitry may include a bootstrapping capacitor that stores charge for boosting a gate signal at an intermediate node for a pull-up transistor above a power supply voltage. The row driver circuitry may include a pull-down transistor coupled to the intermediate node. The source terminal of the pull-down transistor may be coupled to the output terminal or an additional pull-down transistor may be stacked with the pull-down transistor to reduce leakage current. Charge pump circuitry may be coupled to the intermediate node to ensure that the intermediate node is maintained at a voltage above the power supply voltage.

Abstract: A display may have an array of pixels. Display driver circuitry may supply data and control signals to the pixels. Each pixel may have seven transistors, a capacitor, and a light-emitting diode such as an organic light-emitting diode. The seven transistors may receive control signals using horizontal control lines. Each pixel may have first and second emission enable transistors that are coupled in series with a drive transistor and the light-emitting diode of that pixel. The first and second emission enable transistors may be coupled to a common control line or may be separately controlled so that on-bias stress can be effectively applied to the drive transistor. The display driver circuitry may have gate driver circuits that provide different gate line signals to different rows of pixels within the display. Different rows may also have different gate driver strengths and different supplemental gate line loading structures.

Abstract: Display driver circuitry may load data into an array of pixels via data lines. The display driver circuitry may supply control signals including scan signals to the pixels via control lines. Each pixel may have transistors and capacitor circuitry for controlling the emission of light from a light-emitting diode. A drive transistor may be coupled in series with the light-emitting diode to control the amount of current flowing through the light-emitting diode. The drive transistor may have a drive transistor gate terminal that is coupled to one of the source-drain terminals of a switching transistor. The switching transistor may have a switching transistor gate terminal that receives the scan signal. When transitioning prior to an emission phase of operation, the scan signal may have a two-step transition profile or other shape that enhances display performance by reducing dynamic effects in the switching transistor.

Abstract: An electronic device display may have an array of pixel circuits. Each pixel circuit may include an organic light-emitting diode and a drive transistor. Each drive transistor may be adjusted to control how much current flows through the organic light-emitting diode. Each pixel circuit may include one or more additional transistors such as switching transistors and a storage capacitor. Semiconducting oxide transistors and silicon transistors may be used in forming the transistors of the pixel circuits. The storage capacitors and the transistors may be formed using metal layers, semiconductor structures, and dielectric layers. Some of the layers may be removed along the edge of the display to facilitate bending. The dielectric layers may have a stepped profile that allows data lines in the array to be stepped down towards the surface of the substrate as the data lines extend into an inactive edge region.
