    摘要: This invention comprises a process for separating a fatty acid from a mixture comprising a fatty acid and a rosin acid, which process comprises contacting the mixture at separation conditions with a molecular sieve comprising silicalite, thereby selectively retaining the fatty acid. The fatty acid is recovered from the molecular sieve by displacement with a displacement fluid comprising an aqueous solution of a ketone from the group comprising acetone, methyl-ethylketone, or di-ethylketone.

    摘要: An adsorbent suitable for use in separating sucrose from a solution with potassium chloride and betaine. The adsorbent comprises activated carbon bound with a binder material consisting essentially of a water permeable organic polymer from the group cellulose nitrate, a cellulose ester and/or a mixture thereof. Another aspect of the invention is a method of manufacturing the adsorbent comprising (a) mixing together a powder of activated carbon, a powder of binder and a liquid organic solvent to form a malleable mixture; (b) forming the malleable mixture into discrete formations; (c) removing the solvent from the formations to obtain hard dry formations; and (d) breaking the hard dry formations into particles of desired sizes.

    摘要: An improved process for separating a component from a feed mixture comprising an aqueous solution of a mixture of different components, such as a mixture of saccharides. In the process the mixture is contacted with a zeolite which selectively adsorbs a component from the feed mixture. The adsorbed component is then recovered by contacting the adsorbent with a desorbent material such as water to effect the desorption of the adsorbed component from the adsorbent. There is an undesirable tendency for the silicon constituent of the zeolite to dissolve in the aqueous system. The improvement to the process comprises the impregnation of the zeolite with a binder material comprising a water permeable organic polymer which substantially reduces the undesirable dissolution. The adsorbent is manufactured by mixing together powder of the zeolite, powders of the organic polymer binder, and a liquid organic solvent, extruding the mixture into an extrudate and drying the extrudate.

    摘要: A process for separating a component from a feed blend comprising an aqueous solution of a mixture of different components, such as a blend of saccharides. In the process the blend is contacted with an adsorbent comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate and cation exchange resin mixture which selectively adsorbs a component from the feed blend. The adsorbed component is then recovered by contacting the adsorbent with a desorbent material such as water to effect the desorption of the adsorbed component from the adsorbent. There is an undesirable tendency for the silicon constituent of a crystalline aluminosilicate to dissolve in an aqueous system and for the volume of a cationic exchange resin to change with the ionic strength of an aqueous medium. The adsorbent of this invention is dispersed in a binder material comprising a water permeable organic polymer and the effect is a substantial reduction of the undesirable dissolution and volume changes. The adsorbent is manufactured by mixing together powder of the crystalline aluminosilicate, powder of the cationic exchange resin, powder of the organic polymer binder, and a liquid organic solvent, extruding the mixture into an extrudate and drying the extrudate.

    摘要: Sucrose which is found in molasses such as beet molasses or cane molasses may be selectively extracted therefrom by passing an aqueous solution of the molasses over an adsorbent comprising activated carbon powder bound with a binder material comprising a water permeable organic polymer. The sucrose will be selectively adsorbed thereon and separated from the mineral salts and betaine in the molasses. The sucrose is then removed from the adsorbent by treatment with a desorbent material comprising a water and methanol mixture.
