摘要: A system and method for refrigerated packaging and temperature modulation is disclosed. A unique hydrogel formulation comprising a superabsorbent polymer functioning through osmosis, water-soluble binding agent, wicking agent, and an osmosis interfering agent allows a package to be cooled by regular ice without the product or container becoming wet as the ice melts. Hydrogels may be shaped into a container with ice and products placed inside of it. Several additives may be added to the hydrogel formulation to give, remove, or enhance certain properties. A number of additional applications of the inventions are disclosed including agricultural, structural cooling, home and beauty, athletic, medical, work, and other applications.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for removing petroleum and other liquid hydrocarbons from a body of water, using an environmentally friendly and inexpensive bi-component granular compound with sorption and buoyant properties, wherein one of the components of the compound is a microporous absorbent material that due to its high sorption capacity, is effective in removing petroleum and other liquid hydrocarbons from the surface of a body of water, and another component is a macroporous buoyant material with closed cell structure, the subsequent extraction of the absorbent compound impregnated with petroleum and other liquid hydrocarbons from the body of water, with further hydrocarbon recovery by distillation, and microporous component re-activation, that are carried out inside a fluidized bed reactor, using superheated steam, a method of bi-component granular floating absorbent compound manufacturing.

摘要: The present invention relates to a superior carbon adsorbent with or without a core. In one embodiment the carbon adsorbent of the present invention employs carbon adsorbent powder and an organic binding agent which are combined together with an appropriate solvent in an agglomeration step. In another embodiment the invention contemplates a core-in-shell adsorbent comprising an outer shell composed of a carbon and a non-adsorbing inert inner core. Low temperature processing of these agglomerates substantially preserves the binding agent within the final composition and allows one to prepare adsorbent products of high sphericity. The adsorbents of the invention possess superior characteristics such as higher mass transfer rate and CO2 working capacity for use in a H2PSA process.

摘要: An adsorbent composition comprising particles consisting of a core which is at least partially coated with an adsorbent material is disclosed. The core is selected so that it has at least one of: (i) wear resistance; (ii) resistance to corrosive conditions; (iii) at least one thermoplastic material; and (iv) a low porosity. A suitable core material is polystyrene. Adsorbent materials suitable for the coating include activated carbon and metal oxides such as silica and alumina. The adsorbent composition may be used for the adsorption of metals and metal ions in ore processing, for instance for the separation of precious metals such as gold.

摘要: This invention describes a method and apparatus for the capture, storage and release of carbon dioxide for use in the horticulture industry, the method including reduction of a transition metal oxide to form a transition metal and carbon dioxide; carburization or partial carburization of the transition metal to form metal carbide; carbonation of an alkaline metal oxide or alkaline earth metal oxide to form an alkaline metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate; contacting the metal carbide with air to produce a transition metal oxide and carbon dioxide; and calcining the alkaline metal carbonate or alkaline earth metal carbonate to form carbon dioxide and alkaline metal oxide or alkaline earth metal oxide. Also described is a sorbent material for use in the method and apparatus of the invention.
