摘要: An architecture for A method for providing on-line charging in a network environment is provided that includes interacting with an application that is selected by an end user, and with a policy enforcement point to install corresponding policies that are inclusive of charging rules. The method also includes performing, via a policy server, on-line charging interactions on behalf of the selected application itself such that application-specific on-line charging for the application is enabled. In more particular embodiments, the policy server understands which application is interacting with it by use of application tokens, source, or service identifiers. Also, the application element can query the policy server indirectly to grant network resources and the policy server examines an end user's policy profile or a network-wide profile (or both) and recognizes that on-line charging applies to the selected application.

摘要: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving a request to authenticate an end user in a service provider network, and evaluating the request to identify the end user as belonging to an enterprise network. A tag is generated for a packet associated with a flow for the end user in the enterprise network. Routing occurs for subsequent packets associated with the flow between the enterprise network and the end user. The subsequent packets associated with the flow are not routed through the service provider network. In more particular embodiments, the end user is authenticated in the enterprise network after being authenticated in the service provider network. In addition, traffic for the end user can be separated based on one or more tags identified within the flow. A plurality of flows can be classified based on a customer identification (CID). The tag can be a virtual local area network (VLAN) tag generated at a base station.

摘要: Anchoring a communication session for a mobile node involves a signaling node that intercepts a routing information request sent by a switching center of a circuit-switched network. The routing information request requests routing information for the communication session. Subscription information associated with the mobile node is retrieved. Whether the mobile node is eligible to be anchored in a packet-switched network is established. Anchoring of the communication session in the packet-switched network is initiated if the mobile node is eligible to be anchored in the packet-switched network.

摘要: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a message associated with a device in a first domain. An identifier is determined for the device. The message is then sent to a load balancer where the message includes the identifier. The load balancer is then configured to send the message to a network device in a plurality of network devices. The network device is configured to process messages from the device. A second message may be received at the load balancer from a second domain. The second message may include the identifier for the device. The load balancer may then send the second message to the selected network device such that the first message and the second message are processed by the same network device.

摘要: Providing a multicast service includes maintaining multicast service information at an application server. The multicast service information describes a multicast service having an associated subscriber, and the multicast service is operable to deliver multicast content from a multicast source. A cell supporting a user device associated with the subscriber is determined, and creation of a bearer path for the multicast service is initiated. Delivery of the multicast content to the user device is enabled using the bearer path.

摘要: Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to facilitating optimized routing and mobility for communication sessions in partial mesh network deployments. According to one embodiment, routing a packet flow in a communication session includes facilitating a communication session between a first mobile node and a second mobile node. A packet flow from the first mobile node is received at a transient anchor of a visited network. The transient anchor establishes whether the packet flow is to be routed along an optimized path according to one or more routing rules. One or more of the routing rules may be based on the current cell location of the first mobile node relative to a mobility or radio coverage boundary associated with the transient anchor. For example, if the first mobile node is located at a cell near a radio coverage boundary that, if traversed, would not allow for handover of the communications session if optimized routing were used, optimized routing may not be employed for the communications session.

摘要: In one embodiment, a network application may offload stateful operations to a user-plane application. In one embodiment, the network application receives state information for a user device. The network application then sends the state information to a user-plane application, which can maintain the state information. The network application may then offload a stateful operation to the user-plane application. For example, the network application may have the user-plane application perform stateful operations. Also, the network application may use the state information maintained at the user-plane application for error recovery after the network application fails. For example, the network application may recover the state information from the user-plane application after failure.

摘要: Routing a packet flow in a communication session includes facilitating a communication session between a first endpoint and a second endpoint. A permanent anchor of a home network receives path offers sent by the first endpoint. An optimized path offer corresponds to an optimized path passing through a transient anchor of a visited network and bypassing the permanent anchor. A default path offer corresponds to a default path passing through the permanent anchor. The permanent anchor determines whether packet flows between the first endpoint and the second endpoint are to be routed along the optimized path. The default path offer is removed if the packet flows are to be routed along the optimized path. The optimized path offer is removed if not. The remaining path offer is forwarded to the second endpoint.
