Abstract:
A method and apparatus for a physical training device is provided to accommodate one or more athletes during support of a plurality of independent training scenarios for each athlete. The physical training device provides a plurality of training stations, where each training station may be specific to martial arts training activities, or may be generalized to facilitate training that is effective for a plurality of other sporting disciplines. The physical training device provides removable casters that facilitate maneuvering and reconfiguration of the physical training device. Lifting devices may also be configured along the bottom surface of the physical training device so as to provide a mechanism whereby the casters of the physical training device may be lifted off of the surface that is supporting the casters. Two or more physical training devices may be interconnected so as to provide a localized cluster of physical training devices.
Abstract:
A sports training system includes a supporting structure, a first moving element supported by the supporting structure so as to be moveable relative to the supporting structure along a first path, a second moving element supported by the first moving element so as to be moveable relative to the first moving element along a second path different from the first path, and a punching bag suspended below the first moving element by the second moving element. The punching bag is moveable to any point within an area defined by the first and second paths when a trainee strikes the punching bag, thereby mimicking movements of an opponent. One or more elastic elements can be attached between the punching bag and the supporting structure for returning the punching bag to a desired region within the area.
Abstract:
An automated striking and blocking trainer is disclosed. In some embodiments, the trainer includes the following: a frame; a striking body joined with the frame, the punching bag including one or more strike zone assemblies, the strike zone assemblies each having a light indicator and a striking force sensor; an arm assembly joined with the frame, the arm assembly including one or more arms, each of the one or more arms including a voltage differential sensor and a motion indicator in the form of an electrical motor, wherein the voltage differential between the power being used by the electrical motor when the one or more arms are not struck and when the one or more arms are struck is used to determine a torque of the one or more arms and an input force of a blocking strike; and a head assembly including a processor unit and a display.
Abstract:
A heavy bag for use by martial arts practitioners to practice the martial arts, the heavy bag adapted to receive a sheath about its circumferential periphery, the sheath having a plurality of vertically longitudinal sleeves or pockets for the slidable receipt of semi-rigid tubes, rods, or pellets which would therefore be disposed about the circumference of the heavy bag and when struck by a martial arts practitioner with a select anatomical body part would toughen and desensitize the particular anatomical body part. In the preferred embodiment, the sheathing would be in two parts, a lower sheathing secured about the lower portion of the heavy bag by means of hook and loop fastener means, and an upper sheathing which would depend from the four point linkage used for hanging the heavy bag, the lower portion of the upper sheathing being secured by hook and loop fasteners about the circumference of the heavy bag. Alternatively, the sheath may be permanently attached to the heavy bag and sold and used as only a body conditioner bag.
Abstract:
A marital arts training device comprising a barrier for creating a target zone. In a preferred embodiment, the martial arts training device includes: a barrier support; at least one barrier mounted to the barrier support for creating a target zone; and a target located within the target zone.
Abstract:
An apparatus for removably mounting an exercise apparatus to a supporting structure such as a ladder-like structure. Various types of mounting apparatus with specially designed brackets having multiple interchangeable parts, attachments and accessories, are used to facilitate easy and quick mounting of several types of exercise apparatus to the supporting structure.
Abstract:
A boxing device may include a substrate, at least one impact sensor carried by the substrate for detecting impacts from the at least one user, a user input device for receiving personal characteristic data for the at least one user, and a controller coupled to the impact sensor and the user input device. The controller may be for determining performance data based upon detected impacts, and weighting the performance data based upon the personal characteristic of the at least one user.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for martial arts training comprise using a resilient cover, and a body material enclosed by the cover, as a striking apparatus. The striking apparatus can be attached to a punching bag to allow a martial arts practitioner to practice different striking techniques in combination by striking the punching bag with horizontal strikes and striking the striking apparatus with vertical strikes.
Abstract:
A system for sports training having a frame disposed about a heavy bag. The frame can be suspended about the bag with various obstructions or frame members limiting open access to the bag. The frame has certain degrees of freedom and moves about the bag such that contact with the bag introduces a dynamic reaction with the frame thereby enhancing the boxing experience.
Abstract:
A stand for the spaced suspension of multiple heavy boxing bags for use in training boxers has a centrally disposed, vertically extending stanchion of steel pipe upon which is fixedly attached a horizontally extending support rack. The rack is square steel tubing forming a polygonal perimeter having a support for an individual bag at each corner of the polygon. Radial supports extend outward from a centrally located vertical support attached at the upper end of the vertical stanchion, the radial supports supporting the polygonal perimeter. A pair of upper horizontal and upper angled lower radial supports are spaced along and extend from the centrally located vertical support to join at each individual bag support. Boxing bags may be of the same size or of varying sizes as desired. The inventive stand may also be used as a support for a plurality of water bags for a military installation.
