摘要: A strut assembly for mounting an aerodynamic fairing assembly for attachment to a trailer of a tractor-trailer having a centerline, transverse structural support members extending between sides of the trailer, and longitudinal members extending along a length of the trailer. The strut assembly may comprise a mounting plate, a strut body, and a composite spring. The composite spring may be substantially rectangular. The mounting bracket comprising a mounting plate and a pair of spaced apart sidewalls. The strut body rotatably may be coupled to the pair of spaced apart sidewalls on the mounting bracket. The composite spring may be coupled to an upper surface of the strut body and configured to contact an underside of the mounting plate of the mounting bracket to resist inward deflection from an external force applied to the strut body.

摘要: A clamp assembly is provided for securing a panel or fairing to an I-beam, and comprises a pair of side blocks and a clamping block, together with a single bolt to secure them in place. Each of the side blocks as an inclined wedge surface, and the T-shaped clamping block has similarly sloped wedge surfaces along the sides of the leg of the T. When a bolt this passed through side legs of the side blocks, and through or under the clamping block, a sliding and wedging action between the inclined and sloped wedge surfaces occurs. Moreover, a clamping action between the top surface of the clamping block and the lower surface of the lower flanges of the I-beam is also induced.

摘要: An active rocker aerodynamic shield integrated into an automated running board for a motor vehicle. By using the existing automated running board linkages as a mounting location for the panels, the addition of a dedicated motor, linkage/pivot, and vehicle attachment scheme is no longer need for the aero benefit since components can be shared. The use of the moving linkages (Inner link, outer link, & lower mount) as attachment points for a panel(s) that is used to limit the flow of air to the underbody of a vehicle. When the miming board is in its stowed position. The panel is also stowed out of the line of sight and airflow. When the benefit of the aero panel is desired, the running board moves to the deployed position, orienting the aero panel in a position to reduce the amount of airflow under the vehicle.

摘要: A motor vehicle side spoiler arrangement with a spoiler blade which can be moved in a motorized manner between a retracted rest position and a laterally extended spoiler position. A spoiler shell is fixed on the vehicle and provided with a shell rear wall, a guide mechanism which guides the spoiler blade in the longitudinal direction, and an actuating motor. A sliding seal lip is provided between the spoiler blade and the shell rear wall, which sliding seal lip closes a front-side gap (S) between the spoiler blade and the shell rear wall in the spoiler position of the spoiler blade.

摘要: An inner wheel skirt panel centrally located under the body of a vehicle reduces overall vehicle drag by inhibiting air from otherwise being displaced laterally inward by the passing wheels of the moving vehicle. Maintaining air to remain generally static while passing under the vehicle through the central open-space between the wheels increases the effective air pressure developed immediately behind the vehicle to reduce overall drag developed between the front and rear of the vehicle.

摘要: In a vehicle air guide path structure, a vertically long air guide path forming member is provided along an outer edge of a side surface portion of a vehicle body on a rear side of a wheel house. A vertically long air guide path is formed at the rear side of the wheel house. The vertically long air guide path suctions air from the wheel house and exhausts air along a side surface of the vehicle body. A partition member partitions the vertically long air guide path so as to form a plurality of sections in an upper-lower direction. A vertically long inclined surface is formed on the side surface portion of the vehicle body at a rear side of the vertically long air guide path. The partition member protrudes to a rear side from the vertically long air guide path.

摘要: Various embodiments are directed to an air jet shield. The air jet shield may include a support frame configured to attach to a vehicle utilizing a set of security straps. Sets of V-shaped and concave air ducts may be horizontally and vertically coupled to the support frame, respectively. Each of the air ducts may have a decreasing cross-sectional area and include (i) an inlet that receives air from a surrounding environment during a travel of the vehicle into a headwind or crosswind and (ii) an outlet that dispenses the air received from the inlet as a free air jet. Upon entering a headwind or crosswind, the free air jet creates a wind shear causing rotation at an increased velocity. Within the free air jet and surrounding the vehicle, static air pressure and wind velocity is decreased, thereby causing a reduction in aerodynamic drag during travel.

摘要: Disclosed are air rail assemblies for improved vehicle aerodynamics, methods for making and methods for using such air rail assemblies, and motor vehicles employing air rail assemblies for reducing turbulent flow and wake bubbles in and around the rear cargo bed. An air rail assembly for a motor vehicle is disclosed that includes an inlet port that extends through the rear quarter panel of a cargo bed sidewall. The inlet port intakes passing fore-aft airflow. An outlet port extends through a rail cap and ejects airflow intake from the cargo sidewall. An air duct, which attaches to an inboard surface of the rear quarter panel, fluidly connects the air inlet and outlet ports. The air duct includes transverse and vertical channels that cooperatively redirect the airflow intake in an inboard and upward direction. The air duct includes convergent portions that constrict and accelerate the airflow intake.
