When an automobile runs in a straight line or the steering angle is maintained, the valve core of the hydraulic steering control valve is positioned in a middle position to cut off hydraulic pipelines of oil cylinders on two sides of a steering power cylinder or a hydraulic shock-absorbing part, and a piston of the steering power cylinder or the hydraulic shock-absorbing part is unable to move. A self-aligning mechanism is arranged at an input shaft end of the hydraulic steering control valve, and after a driver eliminates the steering torque and loosens the control to a steering wheel, the self-aligning mechanism drives the input shaft or the steering wheel to turn to the middle position, so as to fulfill the self-aligning function.

    摘要: An apparatus (10) for use in turning steerable vehicle wheels (14, 16) includes a steering member (12) which is linearly movable relative to the vehicle to effect turning movement of the steerable vehicle wheels. A pinion (28) is disposed in meshing engagement with a rack portion (30) of the steering member (12). A steering column (22) is connected with the pinion (28) and with a vehicle steering wheel (20) such that rotation of the steering wheel results in linear movement of the steering member. An electrically powered steering unit (40) is connected to the steering member (12) for providing steering feel to the operator. A hydraulic power steering motor (60) mechanically connected to the steering member provides steering assist to the steerable wheels (14, 16).

    摘要: The degrees of freedom in the design of a layout structure of a power steering system for a vehicle are increased so that the auxiliary parts can be arranged around the power assisting actuator without the need for a special increase in the strength and in the stiffness of a body frame for installing the power steering system. The front wheels are steered by a power steering system supported by the body frame wherein the power steering system is provided with an actuator for assisting a steering force. One end of the actuator is installed to a first cross pipe laid over the left and right portions of the body frame. The arrangement is such so that a longitudinal direction of the actuator runs substantially in parallel with a center line of a chassis extending in a back-and-forth direction of the vehicle body.

    摘要: A hydraulic pressure acting in a hydraulic reaction chamber of a power steering system is controlled. A spool valve is formed with portions having a greater and a smaller diameter, which portions are partly situated in an annular groove formed in a valve opening and communicating with the hydraulic reaction chamber. A spring is disposed to one side of the spool valve nearer the portion of a greater diameter to urge it toward the portion of a smaller diameter. Toward the portion of a smaller diameter, the spool valve abuts against a rod of a solenoid. The hydraulic pressure from a pump is introduced into the annular groove through a variable throttle formed in the portion of a greater diameter while the hydraulic pressure in the annular groove is returned to a tank through a variable throttle formed in the portion of a smaller diameter. As the hydraulic pressure in the annular groove rises, the spool valve is shifted in accordance with a difference in the pressure responsive areas, thus suppressing an increase in the reaction pressure.

    摘要: A power steering system is provided in which the rack portion of the power piston is strengthened while still shortening the axial length of the power piston associated therewith. This is accomplished by providing a control valve which includes a valve lever received in a power piston of the device which is relatively rotatable with respect to the power piston and moves in an axial direction of the housing with the power piston in response to rotation from an input shaft connected with the steering wheel. The valve lever has an engaging portion which projects outside of the power piston so as to be connected therewith when the valve reciprocates. The reciprocation of the valve will assist in the operation of the power steering unit and provide the power assist. The valve lever has a portion engageable with a pin member received in the valve spool of the control valve so as to reciprocate the control valve. This arrangement permits the rack portion of the power steering unit to be provided with increased strength even though the axial length of the power piston is decreased and the rack and valve operating lever are positioned on the same side of the power steering unit and still permits the size of the system to be decreased.

    摘要: A hydraulic pressure control valve comprises a valve body having a slide bore of a circular cross-section and an inlet port and an outlet port opened into an inner surface of the slide bore at axially spaced apart points, and a valve spool slidably received in the valve body for axially sliding movement and defining, by cooperation with the valve body, a variable orifice for controlling the degree of communication between the inlet and outlet ports. In the hydraulic pressure control valve, a smaller diameter portion defining an annular oil passage between an inner surface of the slide bore is provided on the valve spool coaxially with the slide bore to define the variable orifice, and has an outside diameter set constant over axially entire length. This facilitates the dimensional control of the variable orifice, so that the variation in property of the variable orifice for every hydraulic pressure control valve may be easily suppressed.

    摘要: In a power assisted rack and pinion vehicle steering mechanism, a rack and a pinion engage within a housing. The pinion is mounted on a pinion shaft which is journalled in bearings in a cage. A lever is fixed to the cage and projects from the cage through the housing. The lever has a part-spherical seating portion which engages a part-spherical seat in the housing. Spring means biases the rack into engagement wiht the pinion, and through the cage biases the part-spherical seating portion of the lever into engagement with the seat on the housing. Steering torque imparted on the pinion moves the rack axially and causes a reaction on the pinion which rotates the cage about the center of the part-spherical seating portion. This rocks the lever to actuate power assistance means.

    摘要: A steering control piston valve has reaction chambers and respective fixed restrictor orifices having an interconnector conduit. The reaction chambers have respective inlet and outlet flow control valving which serve to permit flow from either reaction chamber to bypass the respective restrictor orifice during a steering maneuver if the steered wheels receive a road jolt. The arrangement provides for very rapid flow from the reaction chamber being decreased in volume due to the jolt force on the valve piston causing it to move oppositely to the steering direction. The flow from such reaction chamber passes to the interconnecting conduit for storage. An additional storage tank can be connected to the interconnecting conduit to increase the storage capacity if necessary. The bypassing is likewise advantageous in the event a vehicle swerves and rapid steering correction is necessary.
