    摘要: An apparatus includes a hydraulic power steering motor. A continuously variable transmission has an input shaft rotatable under the influence of force transmitted from the engine and an output shaft operable to drive a pump. The continuously variable transmission is operable to drive the pump at a first speed when one of the input and output shafts of the continuously variable transmission rotates at a first speed. The continuously variable transmission is operable to drive the pump at a second speed when the one of the input and output shafts rotates at a second speed. A centrifugal sensor is connected with the one of the input and output shafts. The centrifugal sensor transfers rotational movement of the one of the input and output shafts to a linearly displaceable input member of the continuously variable transmission to change the speed at which the pump is driven.

A controller increases engine speed when the vehicle is motionless and a steering wheel is rotated. A method for controlling the speed of an engine to provide a predetermined steering assist to a steering apparatus includes determining if the vehicle is motionless and determining if the steering wheel is being rotated. The speed of the engine is increased if the vehicle is motionless and the steering wheel is being rotated to provide the predetermined steering assist to the steering apparatus.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in turning steerable vehicle wheels upon manual rotation of a hand wheel includes a torque sensor connected with the hand wheel. A controller is connected with the torque sensor and a rear steering gear. The controller is operable to effect operation of the rear steering gear in response to an output from the torque sensor upon manual application of at least a predetermined torque to the hand wheel. The torque sensor has an output which corresponds to a torque which is less than the predetermined torque throughout turning of the front wheels through a first range of turning movement. The torque sensor has an output which corresponds to a torque which is at least as great as the predetermined torque which occurs when turning of the front wheels during a second range of turning movement of the front wheels. The controller is operable to effect operation of the rear steering gear in response to the output from the torque sensor through the first range of turning movement of the front wheels so that the steering angle of the rear wheels has a first relationship to the steering angle of the front wheels. The controller being operable to effect operation of the rear steering gear in response to the output from the torque sensor through the second range of turning movement of the front wheels so that the steering angle of the rear wheels has a second relationship different from the first relationship to the steering angle of the front wheels.

A diverter valve (62) directs fluid from the first pump (24) along a fluid flow path which is spaced from the flow control valve (40) during operation of only the first pump. The first pump (24) may, if desired, be smaller than the second pump (32).

    摘要: An apparatus for controlling a vehicle active suspension system having a plurality of actuatable hydraulic motors, each corner having a motor connecting the sprung mass with its associated unsprung mass. Each motor has an associated spool valve for connecting either of two expandable fluid chambers of said motor to a pump or reservoir. Each corner has an associated force sensor for sensing the force value between its associated unsprung mass and the sprung mass. An analog, closed force loop control circuit provides a valve control signal having a value functionally related to the difference between a sensed force value and a desired force value for a selected corner. The closed loop control circuit includes a variable gain amplifier for controlling the value of the valve control signal as a function of the frequency of variations in the difference between the sensed force value and the desired force value on the selected corner. The amplifier gain is controlled as a function of hub velocity so as to undamp a selected corner and as a function of chassis velocity so as to damp the chassis. A digital processing circuit determines a displacement error value for selected corner. The displacement error value is summed with the valve drive signal. An actuator bump stop arrangement is also provided.

    摘要: A semi-active suspension system having a linear actuator operatively connected between a sprung mass and an unsprung mass of the vehicle for each corner of the vehicle. An accumulator connected to the actuator through an electrically controlled valve. An actuatable fluid RAM is in fluid communication with the accumulator for controlling fluid pressure in the accumulator. A hydraulic ram driver is operatively connected to the RAM. A sensor senses force inputs to the vehicle. A controller controls (i) the ram driver for pressurizing the accumulator to a desired fluid pressure, and (ii) the electrically controlled valve in response to sensed force input so as to effect a fluid pressure change in the actuator. Each fluid RAM includes a hydraulic motor having a housing and a piston slidably mounted in the housing. The piston divides the housing into two variable volume fluid chambers, one fluid chamber in fluid communication with the accumulator and a second fluid chamber in communication with the second fluid chambers of each RAM of the other corners of the vehicle. This arrangement permits movement of the piston of the fluid RAM with reduced energy.
