摘要： An apparatus for inserting an item into a closed container includes a body and an implement for forming an entrance point into a surface of the closed container. The implement takes the form of a blade member, or a rotary member having saw-teeth or cutting abrasive on a leading edge thereof. A delivery passage is associated with the implement so the item may be delivered therethrough into the hole formed in the wall of the container by the implement. The apparatus has a stacked magazine feed. Alternatively, the items are fed on a carrier web and punched or severed from the carrier web to be placed in position for delivery. The item is forced through the delivery passage with a ram member that is driven by air pressure or a solenoid. For containers that have a pre-formed slit or opening, the apparatus has a projection that slides into the opening. The delivery passage extends through the length of the projection to provide a pathway to deliver the item after the projection has been slid into the pre-formed slit or opening. The apparatus uses similar components to insert an item by free-fall into an open container situated below.

摘要： Apparatus (10) is disclosed including a series of equally spaced air jets (36) in the center plate (18) of a channel (14). An end cover plate (22) and a cover (48) close the channel (14) to form a tunnel having infeed and outfeed ends. In the most preferred form, the air jets (36) are wedge-shaped depressions formed in the center plate (18) having semicircular end walls (38) including apertures (42) in fluid communication with a compressed air enclosure (44) secured to the center plate (18). The free end of a continuous strip of coupon items is inserted into the infeed end where it is under the control of the air flow created by the air jets (36) within the tunnel. A coupon item is then cut from the continuous strip and travels under the control of the air flow within the tunnel and through the outfeed end thereof. In a preferred form, the end cover plate (22) is arcuately shaped outward and downward to direct the coupon item into a hopper (32) which later receives the ready-to-eat food product. In another preferred form, the coupon item is inserted between a previously filled and sealed bag and a carton receiving such bag.

摘要： A neck booklet machine is described which places an elastic band having a booklet connected to the band around a neck of a container. The booklets are vertically stacked in a curved magazine and pulled by a vacuum cup from the curved magazine, which matches the natural curvature of a stack of booklets having an elastic band on one side. The bottom of the curved magazine is open to allow the elastic bands to hang free. The neck booklet is picked up by a carrier pad and held against and transported along a slide plate. A low vacuum nozzle pulls the loose elastic band downwardly to enable a loop of the elastic band to be picked up by a needle point and held precisely below the booklet on the slide plate. The elastic band is pulled down and around an opening horn extending from the needle point as the neck booklet moves along the slide plate by the carrier pad. The opening horn is carried on supports on the bottom and side with a top opening to allow the elastic band to pass over the opening horn. The opening horn feeds application fingers which index feeds the elastic band onto the neck of the container and releases the neck booklet at the end of the slide plate.

摘要： A system for applying literature to a wall of an object includes a hopper having an exit for dispensing literature one piece at a time and a rotatable member having a plurality of literature receiving areas disposed around the periphery thereof. Each literature receiving area receives one piece of literature from the exit. The member is positioned such that a portion of the periphery is in facing relationship with the exit of the hopper for allowing one of the literature receiving areas to be aligned with the exit. A servomotor rotates the rotatable member in a first direction such that the literature receiving areas pass by the exit one at a time to correspondingly receive a piece of literature from the exit of the hopper. A roller guides a web past a literature receiving area having a terminal piece of literature positioned thereon such that an adhesive coating on the web is in facing relationship with the terminal piece of literature. A pinch roller transfers the terminal piece of literature into adhering contact with the adhesive coating on the web. The web is then moved downstream to apply each piece of literature to an object.

摘要： A method for providing sealed internal labels for vacuum skin packages and the like is disclosed. Labels with a heat sealable printed surface are placed on the trayed product prior to entering a vacuum skin packaging chamber. In the chamber the covering film is heated to its sealing temperature before it is applied by differential air pressure to the product and tray. The label seals to the interior surface of the covering film and is protected from being defaced during handling. Furthermore moisture and juices from the product will not discolor the label as it is sealed on its printed surface to the covering film. The package produced is intended for the display case in a retail supermarket.

摘要： A neck booklet machine is described which places an elastic band having a booklet connected to the band around a neck of a container.
