Abstract: A reinforcing structure for a wind turbine blade is in the form of an elongate stack of layers of pultruded fibrous composite strips supported within a U-shaped channel. The length of each layer is slightly different to create a taper at the ends of the stack; the centre of the stack has five layers, and each end has a single layer. The ends of each layer are chamfered, and the stack is coated with a thin flexible pultruded fibrous composite strip extending the full length of the stack. The reinforcing structure extends along a curved path within the outer shell of the blade. The regions of the outer shell of the blade on either side of the reinforcing structure are filled with structural foam, and the reinforcing structure and the foam are both sandwiched between an inner skin and an outer skin.

Abstract: A method for forecasting power production of at least one wind turbine, the wind turbine forming part of a wind farm arranged at a site. Global weather forecast data is received at a central data centre. A site specific forecast is then generated at the central data centre, based on the global weather forecast data. The site specific forecast from the central data centre is sent to a local data centre, e.g. arranged at the site of the wind farm. Site specific data is received at the local data centre and comprises site specific weather data and/or site specific wind turbine data measured at the site. The site specific forecast is then updated at the local data centre, using the site specific data. Finally, a power production forecast of the at least one wind turbine is generated based on the updated site specific forecast.

Abstract: Embodiments are generally directed to techniques for operating a wind turbine of a wind power plant. An associated method comprises determining, using one or more sensors of the wind turbine, a first power production level of the wind turbine; determining, during an unconstrained operation of the wind turbine, one or more available power correction factors using the first power production level; determining, using one or more wind power parameters applied to a predefined model for estimating an available power of the wind turbine, an estimated available power value; adjusting the estimated available power value using the one or more available power correction factors to produce the available power value; and controlling, using the available power value, the wind turbine to produce a second power production level.

Abstract: A method for mounting or dismounting a wind turbine component of an energy generating unit in a multirotor wind turbine is disclosed. The multirotor wind turbine comprises a tower configured to support one or more load carrying structures each arranged for supporting at least two energy generating units arranged at or near its ends and at opposite sides of the tower. The method comprises securing the load carrying structure against up and down tilting movements before positioning or dispositioning the wind turbine component at an end of the load carrying structure thereby reducing the loadings arising from the unbalance caused by the positioning or dispositioning the wind turbine component. The securing may be realized by compression bars, tethering, or the use of a counterweight.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to a method for controlling one or more wind turbine generators. The method comprises: monitoring an electrical parameter of a power network to which the wind turbine generators are connected with respect to a deadband for the electrical parameter; and determining that the monitored electrical parameter is deviating outside of the deadband. In response to determining that the electrical parameter is deviating outside of the deadband, the method comprises: quantifying a severity of the deviation; and selectively implementing a parameter control mode when the quantified severity of the deviation is at or above a threshold level. In the parameter control mode, one or more power set points are determined based on the value of the electrical parameter and are dispatched to control the wind turbine generators.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of erecting a wind turbine on a wind turbine site. The wind turbine comprises a turbine tower and a nacelle. The method comprises the following steps: providing a plurality of tower sections being arrangeable upon each other in a vertical orientation in a tower structure to form the turbine tower, providing at least two damper units configured to dampen oscillations of the turbine tower, attaching one of the at least two damper units to one of the plurality of the tower sections on an outside thereof, and subsequently arranging said tower section in the tower structure, attaching a subsequent one of the at least two damper units to another one of the plurality of the tower sections on an outside thereof, and subsequently arranging said tower section in the tower structure, while the previous one of the at least two damper units is still attached to the previous one of the plurality of tower sections.

Abstract: A gripper for holding a wind turbine blade when the wind turbine blade is being transported. The gripper comprises a lower blade holding structure configured to engage an underside of the wind turbine blade, an upper blade holding structure configured to engage an upper side of the wind turbine blade and a force transfer mechanism operatively coupled to at least one of the lower or upper blade holding structures. The force transfer mechanism is configured to increase the force applied between the lower blade holding structure and the underside of the wind turbine blade and/or between the upper blade holding structure and the upper side of the wind turbine blade when the wind turbine blade is accelerated during movement along a central longitudinal axis of the wind turbine blade.

Abstract: A transportation arrangement (10) includes a dolly and a clamp (20) secured to the dolly (14). The clamp (20) includes a frame (30) having a lower portion (32) coupled to the dolly (14) and an upper portion (34) selectively rotatable relative to the lower portion (32), a saddle (100) positioned on the lower portion of the frame, a jaw (130) movably positioned on the upper portion (34) of the frame (30), and an actuator (150) operatively coupled to the jaw (130) and configured to move the jaw (130) relative to the saddle (100) to apply a clamping force on a blade (16). The actuator (150) is configured to extend the jaw (130) toward the saddle (100) in response to the clamping force being less than or equal to a minimum threshold clamping force, and may be configured to retract the jaw (130) away from the saddle (100) in response to the clamping force being greater than or equal to a maximum threshold clamping force. A method of transporting a blade (16) is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a wind turbine (1). The wind turbine (1) comprises one or more wind turbine blades (5), each wind turbine blade (5) being connected to a blade carrying structure (4) mounted on a hub (3), via a hinge (6) at a hinge position of the wind turbine blade (5), each wind turbine blade (5) thereby being arranged to perform pivot movements relative to the blade carrying structure (4) between a minimum pivot angle and a maximum pivot angle. The method comprises the steps of detecting an airborne object entering a predefined zone around the wind turbine (1), comparing a current tip height (H) of the wind turbine (1) to a maximum tip height value, the maximum tip height value representing a maximum allowable tip height under currently prevailing conditions. In the case that the current tip height (H) exceeds the maximum tip height value, a pivot angle (P) of wind turbine blades (5) is adjusted in order to decrease the tip height (H) of the wind turbine (1) to a value below the maximum tip height value.

Abstract: A shear web foot for a wind turbine blade is described. The shear web foot extends longitudinally and comprises a base for attaching to an internal surface of the blade and first and second side walls. The side walls extend respectively from opposite longitudinal sides of the base. At least part of each side wall is inclined relative to the base and inclined towards the other side wall. A web-foot interior is defined at least in part by the base and the first and second side walls. One or more internal walls are located in the web-foot interior. The one or more internal walls extend between the base and the first and/or second side walls and are spaced apart from the first and second side walls to define a plurality of chambers within the web-foot interior.
