    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media for streaming arbitrarily large amounts of data through computational storage programs of a computational storage device. A computational storage device comprises a storage media, a computational storage processor, and a controller. A firmware of the controller comprises a plurality of streaming drivers, each associated with a data source or data destination of the storage device. The firmware further comprises a buffer abstraction layer operable to read data from a data source through an associated ingress streaming driver of the plurality of streaming drivers to provide a source data stream for a computational storage program executing on the computational storage processor. The buffer abstraction layer is further operable to receive a destination data stream from the computational storage program and write data to a data destination through an associated egress streaming driver of the plurality of streaming drivers.

    Abstract: Estimation of read parameters for a read channel of a solid-state storage device using a machine learning apparatus. The machine learning apparatus may be provided with signal count metrics from multiple regions of the memory cell signal space and syndrome weights from an error correction code. Other inputs may also be provided comprising metrics of the memory or read operations. In an example, the read parameters may include one or more reference threshold voltage values for read voltages applied to a memory cell and/or log-likelihood ratio (LLR) values for the memory cell.

    Abstract: A recording head has a light source that emits light at a wavelength in a wavelength range of 260 nm to 460 nm inclusive. A slider body of the light source includes a magnetic pole extending to a media-facing surface of the recording head and integrated photonics that deliver the light to a recording medium. The integrated photonics include a waveguide that couples the light from the light source to the media-facing surface of the slider and a near-field transducer coupled to receive the light from the waveguide. The near-field transducer has a surface plasmon plate and a peg extending from the surface plasmon plate. The surface plasmon plate is formed of a first material having a first plasmonic quality factor (Q-factor) above 5 in the wavelength range, the peg formed of a second material having a second Q-factor above 1.2 in the wavelength range.

    Abstract: A recording head includes a nanorod configured to heat a hotspot on a recording media, a plasmonic plate configured to concentrate an electric field to excite the nanorod, and a heat sink configured to dissipate heat from the nanorod. The recording head includes a first diffusion barrier plate configured to resist diffusion of materials between the plasmonic plate and the nanorod and a second diffusion barrier plate configured to resist diffusion of materials between the heat sink and the nanorod. The first diffusion barrier plate is disposed between the nanorod and the plasmonic plate and is coupled to a bottom surface of the nanorod. The second diffusion barrier plate is disposed between the heat sink and the nanorod and is coupled to the top surface of the nanorod.

    Abstract: A system comprises one or more storage entities (SEs) each configured to store data for applications that rely on higher levels of data integrity, wherein each of the SEs has its own cryptographic identity in the form of a unique root identity key pair of public and private keys created at manufacturing time. Each SE generates one or more SE-specific asymmetric data owner keys upon invocation of a smart contract by a prospective data owner. The system further comprises a distributed ledger provisioned to the SEs and configured to maintain all public keys and/or public key certificates of the SEs. The system also comprises a key manager configured to hold all SE-specific data owner public keys and SE data access control keys, wherein the data stored on the SEs is protected by the SE-specific data access control keys wrapped by the SE-specific data owner keys based on current data ownership.

    Abstract: Cache coherency of a global address space of a cache can be maintained with one or more tier control units (TCUs). The global address space of the cache may be shared by multiple domains. Domains may include multiple controllers and a local interconnect operatively coupling the controllers to the cache. The local interconnect of each domain may maintain a cache coherency of a local address space of the cache shared by the controllers of the domain. The one or more TCUs may be operatively coupled to the local interconnects of the domains to maintain the cache coherency of the global address space.

    Abstract: A defect inspection system provides an image of a surface of a hard drive media to a machine learning model that is trained to identify predefined classifications of abnormal surface patterns on the hard drive media, each of the predefined classifications being associated in system memory with a severity indicator. The defect inspection model analyzes the image and generates and output indicating that the image includes a pattern consistent with a select classification of the predefined classifications of abnormal surface patterns. When the severity indicator for the select classification satisfies a failure condition, the defect inspection system automatically implements a corrective action.
