Abstract:
Techniques are provided herein for a device in a network to receive information configured to indicate a control plane traffic load level for one or more server devices that are configured to manage traffic for messaging and presence clients communicating via a messaging and presence protocol. The control plane traffic is associated with the messaging and presence protocol. A determination is made as to when the control plane traffic load level has become unbalanced among the two or more server devices and in response to determining that the control plane traffic load level has become unbalanced, sending a transfer message to one or more clients comprising information configured to initiate migration of one or more clients from a server device that is relatively overloaded to a server device that is relatively underloaded in order to balance the control plane traffic load level among the two or more server devices.
Abstract:
There are provided measures for a failover functionality for a client-related security association. Such measures exemplarily comprise providing a failover functionality at a proxy function and/or facilitating provision of a failover functionality at a servicing call state control function, wherein the respective failover functionality relates to a first proxy function, the serving function is for servicing the first proxy function and a second proxy function, the first proxy function has a security association with a client, and the first proxy function and the second proxy function are reachable with the same network address.
Abstract:
Generally described, the present disclosure is directed to managing request routing functionality corresponding to resource requests for one or more resources associated with a content provider. The processing of the DNS requests by the service provider can include the selective filtering of DNS queries associated with a DNS query-based attack. A service provider can assign DNS servers corresponding to a distributed set of network addresses, or portions of network addresses, such that DNS queries exceeding a threshold, such as in DNS query-based attacks, can be filtered in a manner that can mitigate performance impact on for the content provider or service provider.
Abstract:
A Peer-to-Peer (P2P)-based network apparatus and system is provided. The P2P-based network apparatus may sense the movement of a mobile station (MS), select a candidate proxy, and change a proxy of the MS to the candidate proxy.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for increasing the efficiency and efficacy of DNS clients. In one technique, DNS clients log information about performance of one or more DNS servers that the DNS clients use to resolve DNS resolution requests. The DNS clients send, to a control server, performance data regarding the DNS resolution requests and/or subsequent connections to servers associated with resolved domain names. Based on the performance data, the control server sends, to one or more DNS clients, configuration data that adjusts the configuration of the DNS clients. For example, if a particular DNS server is taking a considerable amount of time to resolve DNS resolution requests from one or more DNS clients, then the control server may send, to a plurality of DNS clients, configuration data that indicates a different set of one or more DNS servers for the plurality of DNS clients to contact for subsequent DNS resolution requests.
Abstract:
Various examples provide a method of changing service points. According to the method, a serving service point obtains a changing request, and obtains a user identity from the changing request; locates a target service point by using the changing request; obtains serving user data corresponding to the user identity, sends the serving user data to the target service point; receives a changing response returned by the target service point, and redirect a client corresponding to the user identity to connect to the target service point. Various examples also provide a system of changing service points. The above method and system can change service points in real time.
Abstract:
Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method and related network node including one or more of the following: receiving, at the network device from an entity, a request for a serving device assigned to a subscriber; attempting to locate an assignment record associated with the subscriber; in response to locating the assignment record associated with the subscriber, identifying an assigned serving device of the multiple serving devices indicated by the assignment record as being assigned to the subscriber; and transmitting a response to the entity, wherein the response identifies the assigned serving device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for managing request routing functionality associated with resource requests for one or more resources associated with a content provider are provided. A content delivery network (“CDN”) service provider, on behalf of a content provider, can process domain name service (“DNS”) requests for resources by computing devices and resolve the DNS requests by the identification of a network address of a computing device that will provide the requested resources. Based on the processing of DNS queries initiated by a client computing device, the CDN service provider can measure CDN service provider latencies associated with the generation of DNS requests by network components associated with the client computing devices. Examples of the network components can include DNS resolvers associated with the client computing devices.
Abstract:
Techniques for balancing network load at network devices in a virtualized computing environment are disclosed. In one embodiment, a first network device having network load above a threshold value is determined. Further, a first host coupled to the first network device is identified. The first host executes a workload that transmits and receives network traffic via the first network device. If the first host is not coupled to any other network device, the network load at the first network device is reduced by initiating migration of at least a part of the workload to a second host coupled to any other network device. If the first host is coupled to a second network device, the network load at the first network device is reduced by instructing a virtual switch of the first host to route at least a part of the network traffic between the workload and second network device.
Abstract:
A method and system permit a backup entity of a redundant apparatus of a communication system that shares control of hardware resources or other network resources with an active entity to indirectly determine a status of the active entity based upon behavior and reaction to actions it takes in connection with resources it shares control of with the active entity. Such a method and system permit the backup entity to deduce the state of the active entity without having any a hardware connection or other communication connection with the active entity.
