A linear full duplex system and method for acoustic echo cancellation is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes calculating a residual echo after subtraction of an echo estimate from a near end signal associated with a communication, refining a far end and a residual signal associated with the communication, updating, based on the far end signal, the echo estimate of an echo associated with the communication, subtracting the echo from the near end signal based on the echo estimate to cancel the echo associated with the communication, updating, based on the refined far end and refined residual signal, the adaptive filter module used for echo estimation, and detecting a steady state and, during the steady state, dynamically detecting internal substates and switching between the internal substates and detecting and managing double talk associated with the communication.

Various non-limiting embodiments disclosed herein relate generally to photochromic compounds, which may be thermally reversible or non-thermally reversible, and articles made therefrom. Other non-limiting embodiments relate to photochromic-dichroic compounds, which may be thermally reversible or non-thermally reversible, and articles made therefrom. For example, one non-limiting embodiment provides a thermally reversible, photochromic compound adapted to have at least a first state and a second state, wherein the thermally reversible, photochromic compound has an average absorption ratio greater than 2.3 in at least one state as determined according to CELL METHOD. Another non-limiting embodiment provides a photochromic compound comprising: (a) at least one photochromic group chosen from a pyran, an oxazine, and a fulgide; and (b) at least one lengthening agent L attached to the at least one photochromic group and represented by the formula —[S1]c-[Q1-[S2]d]d′-[Q2-[S3]e]e′-[Q3-[S4]f]f′—S5—P, which is described herein.

Various non-limiting embodiments disclosed herein provide phase-separating polymer systems including a cured polymeric liquid crystal matrix phase and a guest phase including at least one photoactive material where the guest phase separates from the matrix phase during the curing process. Optical elements, including ophthalmic elements and other articles of manufacture including the phase-separating polymer systems are also disclosed. Methods of forming a liquid crystal phase-separating photoactive polymer system are also described.

A computer implemented method for establishing a phone call between parties is provided. The method includes receiving a text message at a server. Then, processing the text message at the server to identify a type of call requested in the text message and the parties to connect. Two or more internet-based calls are initiated from the server so as to establish phone connections to each of the parties. The method then includes bridging the phone connections to establish the phone call between the parties. The phone call is thus setup in response to the content of the text message, and the phone call is configured in a manner that reduces cost to the phone call requesting text sender. The text message may dictate whether the call is to be between two or more parties, and in some examples, the text message can identify when the call should take place, thus providing advanced scheduling options, at which time the call will automatically be set up.

Described are contact lenses having photochromic materials within the central or pupillary area of the lens and methods for manufacturing such lenses. In one method, a photochromic amount of at least one photochromic material is added to the pupillary region of a casting mold containing a polymerizable monomer that can be at least partially cured before and/or after the addition. Another method involves providing an amount of polymerizable photochromic monomer for the pupillary region and an amount of polymerizable non-photochromic monomer for the remainder of the contact lens in a casting mold. The photochromic and non-photochromic monomers can differ by their degree of polymerization, viscosity and/or density.
