Abstract: A workstation captures images of illuminated symbols with a solid-state imager. In an embodiment, the workstation includes a removable camera module in the workstation away from the imager. The camera module captures a secondary image through a window. The captured image of the illuminated symbol and the captured secondary image are independently processed.

Abstract: Imaging devices are provided having a low-profile substrate structure with a mounting surface that can be removably placed on flat work surface. Further, a low-profile frame structure coincides with a peripheral region of that substrate structure and contains a plurality of imagers, at least some of which are on opposing sides of the substrate structure. The opposing imagers are positioned such that the respective fields of view are inwardly facing toward a central region of an upper surface and define a scan volume extending across the substrate structure and above the central region. The upper and lower bounds of the imaging device form a low-profile assembly generally accessible to scan objects moving across any direction.

Abstract: Multiple field of view (FOV) systems are disclosed herein. An example system includes a bioptic barcode reader having a target imaging region. The bioptic barcode reader includes at least one imager having a first FOV and a second FOV and is configured to capture an image of a target object from each FOV. The example system includes one or more processors configured to receive the images and a trained object recognition model stored in memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors. The memory includes instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to analyze the images to identify at least a portion of a barcode and one or more features associated with the target object. The instructions further cause the one or more processors to determine a target object identification probability and to determine whether a predicted product identifies the target object.

Abstract: Indicia readers with multiple imaging assemblies and dichroic mirrors are disclosed herein. In an example, an indicia reader like a barcode reader includes a first (2D) imaging assembly operable to sense light in the 700 nm or below wavelength range, a second (3D) imaging assembly operable to sense light in the above 700 nm wavelength range, and a dichroic mirror. The mirror is situated such that (i) light that is received by the first imaging assembly is received from a product scanning region and is reflected by the mirror such that its path is redirected towards and the first imaging assembly and (ii) light that is received by the second imaging assembly is received from the product scanning region by passing through the mirror toward the second imaging assembly.

Abstract: Devices for improving user-interface (UI) controls in an imaging device are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, such imaging devices include a housing having an internal cavity and a window where a flange portion extending around some portion of the window includes touch-enabled UI controls positioned on an exterior surface. On a correspondingly opposite (interior) surface of the flange portion there exists a printed circuit board (PCB) with touch-sensors that correspond to the UI controls. To increase the efficacy of the touch-controls, a spring element is positioned behind the PCB to bias the PCB towards the rear surface of the interior surface of the flange portion and reduce and/or eliminate an air gap between said surface and the sensor(s) and/or the PCB.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to wakeup systems for indicia readers. In an example embodiment, the present invention leverages data sensed through a horizontal window of a bioptic barcode reader to switch from a sleep mode to a read mode. In particular, the sensed data may be used exclusively or as a determinative factor for waking up the barcode reader.

Abstract: A variety of barcode scanner assemblies for inductive charging include a reader, a stand, a first inductive coil having a first coil axis, and a second inductive coil having a second coil axis. For some assemblies, in the charging position, gravity and a cradle of the stand urge alignment of the first inductive coil and the second inductive coil along the first coil axis and the second coil axis and minimize a gap between the first coil axis and the second coil axis. For some assemblies, in the charging position, a torque is exerted upon the reader by gravity, the torque urging proximity between the first inductive coil and the second inductive coil and alignment features of the stand urge alignment of the first inductive coil and the second inductive coil along the first and second coil axes.
