Abstract:
Floor coverings of composite tiles having a polygonal ground plan and having elastic properties. A recess which is formed of a hollow space in the composite tiles can include a cylindrical support molded on the underside of the tiles. The walls of each composite tile can be stabilized by a supporting component which is connected to the vertical edges of the composite tiles and preferably extends to the lower edge of the tiles. Laying plates which include an arrangement designed to co-operate with the supports of the composite tiles can be used. The laying plates form a laying system which permits the laying of the composite tiles even on difficult substrates and provide for the laid composite tiles to be easily be lifted.

The embeddable paving block intended for surfacing roadways and other areas of ground, of the type including four identical arms disposed at right-angles to one another, each of the arms having shoulders distributed over the lateral faces and the ends of each of these arms, the shoulders being disposed to overlap in the plane of the surfacing the corresponding shoulders on the adjacent blocks in order to prevent the plane from opening up under the effect of any traction and in order to ensure a constant thickness of the joints.

An interlocking paving stone which has in certain embodiments a twelve-sided main section and an eight-sided tail section, and in certain other embodiments, has a twenty-sided main section and a sixteen-sided tail section, which main and tail sections are integral with each other, coplanar, and symmetrical about a longitudinal plane perpendicular to the paving stone which bisects it into two equal longitudinally extending sections. The relationship of the lengths of the sides to each other and angles they define are such that a large number of different interlocking patterns are possible which exhibit a high degree of interlock along both opposite edges and both opposite ends of the stones.
Abstract:
A paving block is provided for forming of paved surfaces comprising a plurality of the block laid in adjacent relationship. The blocks are of a planar configuration having a primary body section with coplanar top and bottom surfaces and a vertical peripheral side wall extending between the top and bottom surfaces. Four main wall elements are included in the peripheral wall with these wall elements disposed in parallel pairs, the pairs being positioned in orthogonal relationship to each other. A fifth wall element is included in the peripheral side wall and is positioned between two adjacent ones of the main wall elements in equiangular relationship to each other. In one version of the paving block, two tongue elements are provided in integrally formed relationship with the primary body section and project a distance laterally therefrom at diametrically opposed corners adjacent the respective main wall elements that are interconnected by the fifth wall element. Each tongue element is shaped in plan view to mechanically interengage with side walls of tongue elements and the fifth wall element of adjacent blocks to form a mechanical interlock of adjacently disposed blocks. A second version of the paving block has a single tongue element shaped in plan view to cooperatively interfit in each of two complementally shaped recesses cooperatively forming the fifth wall element to form a mechanical interlock between adjacently disposed blocks.

A guttered paving block which can interlock with identical paving blocks in only one way to simply the assembly of a ground cover consisting of a square narrow waisted portion and a pair of oppositely situated extended head portions with pointed ends. The narrow waist portion makes the block easy to pick up with one hand. Dummy grooves which are parallel are provided to facilitate the manufacture of the block. Another embodiment is designed to permit a large number of patterns when assembled. It consists of a rectangular portion with a smaller square portion appended to one side of the rectangular portion.

The present invention relates to a frame for installing wooden bricks in which plural sections for holding the wooden bricks are arranged so as to correspond to the finished arrangement of the wooden bricks, a pederal for fixing the wooden bricks is prepared in each holding section, and a piece of elastic protrusion is protruded from a section wall of each holding section into an oblique downward direction in the section,or a frame for installing wooden bricks in which, in addition to the above, on a wide joint means between each holding section, plural elastic projections having the same level to the upper surface of the wooden bricks the upper end of which is held in the holding section are prepared,by holding the wooden bricks which have corresponding size and shape to the holding sections and by installing the wooden bricks on sidewalks and the like, the pavement of wooden bricks having smooth road may be very easily obtained.Further, the pavement of wooden bricks having water permiability and permitting the expansion and contraction may be obtained.

Known groundcovering elements (44) consist of three basic shaped slabs which are connected to form a unit and which are delimited from one another by at least two dummy joints (stem dummy joint 74 and middle dummy joint 81), the peripheral surface having projections (67, 68, 79) and depressions (69, 70, 80) along an (imaginary) base line to form a toothing. To improve the stability and laying of such groundcovering elements (44), it is proposed to make these T-shaped by means of a half-size stem (13) formed approximately centrally on an elongate crossbar (12). When rhombi (45-47) are used as the basic shaped slab, the groundcovering element (44) has the form of an inclined "T".

A slab element for covering the ground is made e.g. of concrete and forms as a single piece. It has a head portion and a stem portion meeting at a notional meeting surface. The element is delimited by two opposite end faces of equal length joined by sides that form angled traces about a longitudinal axis common to the head at the stem, each said angled trace being formed by a succession of sides comprising at said head an inclined side face inclined in one direction relatively to the axis, a lateral side face extending lengthwise with respect to the axis and another inclined side face inclined in the opposite direction with respect to the axis, and comprising at the stem a lateral side face extending lengthwise with respect to the axis which is complementary to the lateral face of the head, the end face of the head together with its inclined sides and its lateral faces and the meeting surface describing a centrally symmetrical octagon, and the meeting surface together with the end face and lateral faces of the stem being symmetrical about the center of the stem. The head may describe a regular octagon. The stem may describe a square. But the stem may also describe a circle. The elements can be laid to form a composite ground covering structure, laid e.g. in herringbone bond pattern, and laid e.g. to include one or more supplementing slab elements of the same peripheral configuration as the stems of the elements.

A ground covering element adapted for positioning adjacent another ground covering element. The outer contour of the ground covering element forms projections and recesses about its entire periphery, has corner projections which form the vertices of a rectangle and line portions all of which are oblique to the sides of the rectangle connecting the corner projections. At least two of the line portions connecting each of the vertices are of equal length and the remaining line portions have lengths which are integer multiples of the lengths of the at least two line portions of equal length. A plurality of irregular spaced polygons project from the top surface to form raised portions, the majority of the polygons differing in shape from each other. The edges of the raised portions are straight and separated from each other by dummy gaps having widths which vary linearly along the entire length thereof and from the periphery of the ground covering element by marginal dummy gaps. The edge of each raised portion adjacent the periphery of the element substantially follows the contour thereof and has a distance therefrom such that the average distance between the edge of the raised portion adjacent the periphery and the contour is approximately equal to the average width of the dummy gaps between the raised portions. Sand is used to fill the space between the adjacent ground covering elements thereby effectively concealing this space from view.
Abstract:
An improved paving block is disclosed. The paving block is of the type which comprises at least four paving elements of equal height seated on a common foot and which has side walls that present convex and concave curvilinear generatrices. A part of the side walls of the block are formed with at least one flat surface so as to provide better stacking, easier laying down and improved mutual engagement of the blocks for enhanced load stability of the finished paving.
