Abstract: A multi-stage irreversible sensor coupling is provided. A sensor body includes a sensor and has a sensor body wall and at least one sensor body engagement feature. A clip barrel is configured to slidably engage the sensor body and has at least one clip barrel engagement feature. A wedge clip is configured to slidably engage the clip barrel and has at least one wedge clip engagement feature that is configured to urge the at least one sensor body engagement feature into cooperative engagement with the at least one clip barrel engagement feature when the wedge clip, clip barrel, and sensor body are fully engaged together.

Abstract: An in-situ averaging combustion analyzer includes a housing and a probe coupled to the housing at a proximal end. The probe has a distal end configured to extend into a flue and contains a zirconia-based oxygen sensing cell proximate the distal end. Electronics are disposed in the housing and are coupled to the zirconia-based oxygen sensing cell. The electronics are configured to measure an electrical characteristic of the zirconia-based oxygen sensing cell and calculate an oxygen concentration value. An averaging conduit is disposed about the probe and has a plurality of inlets spaced at different distances from the distal end of the probe. The averaging conduit has at least one outlet positioned between the distal end and the proximal end of the probe. The electronics are configured to provide an average oxygen concentration output based on the calculated oxygen concentration value.

Abstract: A process diaphragm seal includes a seal body, a diaphragm, and a ring member. The seal body includes a flange that surrounds a cavity. The diaphragm includes an active portion that extends over the cavity and a peripheral portion that surrounds the active portion. The ring member clamps the peripheral portion of the diaphragm to an outer wall of the flange through an interference fit between an inner wall of the ring member and the outer wall of the flange. A seal is formed between the peripheral portion of the diaphragm and the outer wall of the flange.

Abstract: A level transmitter includes an analog-to-digital convertor clock signal generator that receives a transmitter clock signal that is used to establish when an incident signal is transmitted toward a material boundary. The analog-to-digital convertor clock signal generator uses the received transmitter clock signal to generate an analog-to-digital convertor clock signal. An analog-to-digital convertor samples an analog waveform based on the analog-to-digital convertor clock signal and generates a digital value for each sample of the analog waveform. An analysis module analyzes the digital values to determine a distance to the material boundary.

Abstract: An industrial process field device includes a piezoelectric transducer, a sensor circuit, a test circuit, a controller and a communications circuit. The sensor circuit generates a sensor signal indicating a process variable based on a voltage across the piezoelectric transducer. The test circuit is configured to apply a voltage pulse having a pulse voltage to the piezoelectric transducer that induces a response signal, and capture peak positive and negative voltages of the response signal. The controller calculates a current condition value of the piezoelectric transducer based on the peak positive voltage, the peak negative voltage and the pulse voltage, and generates a diagnostic test result based on a comparison of the current condition value to a reference condition value corresponding to a properly operating piezoelectric transducer. The communications circuit communicates the process variable and the diagnostic test result to an external control unit over a process control loop.

Abstract: A process pressure transmitter includes transmitter electronics disposed within a housing. The transmitter electronics includes a communications circuit coupled to a processing system and an analog to digital converter disposed within the housing. The analog to digital converter electrically is coupled to the transmitter electronics. A pressure sensor comprises a cell body defining an interior cavity. A deflectable diaphragm comprising a second material is coupled to the cell body and separates the interior cavity into a first cavity and a second cavity. The deflectable diaphragm includes a groove region located around a periphery of the deflectable diaphragm. The first and second cavities each contain a dielectric fill-fluid, each of the fill fluids adapted to receive a pressure and exert a corresponding force on the diaphragm, and the diaphragm is deflectable in response to differences in the pressures received by the fill-fluids in the first and second cavities. A first electrode is capacitively coupled to the diaphragm to form a first variable capacitor and a first lead wire electrically connects to the first electrode. A second electrode is capacitively coupled to the diaphragm to form a second capacitor and a second lead wire is electrically coupled to the second electrode. The first and second lead wires are electrically coupled to the analog to digital converter.
