Abstract: An optical assembly, a display device and a method for driving the same are provided. The optical assembly includes two substrates disposed opposite to each other, and electrodes are disposed on the two substrates respectively. Voltages are applied to the electrodes to form a transverse electric field being configured for driving liquid crystal molecules proximal to the substrates to deflect, so that liquid crystal proximal to the two substrates both form liquid crystal lenses, thereby forming a double-layer liquid crystal lens structure. Since the two substrates of a liquid crystal cell have high alignment accuracy, the electrodes on the two substrates are consistent in spatial distribution, thereby solving mura problem.

Abstract: A display panel includes a light guide plate, a substrate, a reflector and a liquid crystal layer. A refractive index of the liquid crystal layer can vary between a minimum liquid crystal refractive index and a maximum liquid crystal refractive index. One side, facing the substrate, of the light guide plate includes a light entry region, light at least partially enters the liquid crystal layer through the light entry region and is propagated towards the reflector. The maximum liquid crystal refractive index is greater than a refractive index of the reflector, and the minimum reflective index is not greater than the refractive index of the reflector. When the refractive index of the liquid crystal layer is greater than the reflective index of the reflector, the reflector reflects at least a part of light entering the liquid crystal layer from the light entry region to the light guide plate.

The first total reflecting part is configured to reflect part of incident light to the second total reflecting part and directly direct another part of light to the light guiding part. The second total reflecting part is configured to reflect incident light to the light guiding part. The light guiding part is configured to cause incident light to propagate in a total reflection.

The light transmission direction controller is configured to independently adjust a grayscale of each individual one of the plurality of subpixels by independently controlling a light distribution ratio between a first portion of light transmitted through the light transmissive part and a second portion of light blocked by the light blocking part in each individual one of the plurality of subpixels.

At least one of the first electrode and the second electrode includes an annular electrode. The first electrode is located on a side of the first substrate facing the second substrate, and the second electrode is located on a side of the second substrate facing the first substrate. Under an effect of the first electrode and the second electrode, liquid crystals in the liquid crystal layer further form a Fresnel lens having an adjustable focal distance.

The display device and display method provided in this text can enable switching between normal display mode and an anti-peeping display mode to facilitate safe display of the display device.
