Abstract: The disclosure describes examples for determining samples to use for DC intra mode prediction, such as where the samples are in a row or column that is not immediately above or immediately left of the current block. The samples may be aligned with the current block such that a last sample in the samples in a row above the current block is in same column as last column of the current block and such that a last sample in the samples in a column left of the current block is in the same row as the last row of the current block.

Abstract: A device for encoding point cloud data, the device comprising: a memory to store the point cloud data; and one or more processors coupled to the memory and implemented in circuitry, the one or more processors configured to: determine a horizontal plane position of a node, wherein the horizontal plane position indicates a position of a single plane that is perpendicular to a first axis of a coordinate system, wherein the first axis is a horizontal axis; determine, from a plurality of contexts consisting of 8 contexts, a context for the horizontal plane position of the node; and perform arithmetic encoding on a syntax element indicating the horizontal plane position using the determined context.

Abstract: A video coder determines a boundary luma value and derives a chroma value that corresponds to the boundary luma value. The video coder may derive a first prediction model and a second prediction model based on the derived chroma value. The video coder may use the first prediction model to determine a first set of predicted chroma samples of a prediction block for the current block. The first set of predicted chroma samples corresponds to the luma samples of the prediction block that have values less than or equal to the boundary luma value. The video coder may use the second prediction model to determine a second set of predicted chroma samples of the prediction block. The second set of predicted chroma samples corresponds to the luma samples of the prediction block that have values greater than the boundary luma value.

Abstract: Techniques are described for improving video coding. For example, a first block of a picture included in an encoded video bitstream can be obtained. A second block of the picture can be determined as being coded (e.g., encoded) using a type of block-based quantized residual domain pulse code modulation (BDPCM) mode, such as vertical BDPCM mode or horizontal BDPCM mode. In the event the second block is coded using the vertical BDPCM mode, a vertical intra-prediction mode can be determined for an intra-prediction mode list for the first block. The vertical intra-prediction mode can be added to the intra-prediction mode list for the first block. In the event the second block is coded using the horizontal BDPCM mode, a horizontal intra-prediction mode can be determined for the intra-prediction mode list for the first block and the horizontal intra-prediction mode can be added to the intra-prediction mode list.

Abstract: In some examples, a method of decoding a point cloud includes determining a first slice QP value for a first component of an attribute in a slice of point cloud data. The method also includes decoding a first delta QP value for the first component of the attribute for a region in the slice and determining a first region QP value for the first component of the attribute in the region from the first slice QP value and from the first delta QP value. The method further includes decoding a second delta QP value for the second component of the attribute for the region and determining a second region QP value for the second component of the attribute in the region from the second delta QP value. The method includes decoding the point cloud data based on the first and second region QP values.

Abstract: A method of decoding a point cloud comprises: reconstructing a position of a point of the point cloud; determining a quantized attribute value for the point; deriving a quantization parameter (QP) bit depth offset for the point; deriving a QP range for the point based on the QP bit depth offset for the point; determining a quantization step size for the point based on the QP range for the point; and inverse quantizing the quantized attribute value for the point based on the quantization step size for the point.
