Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to communication systems, and more particularly, to system information acquisition over bandwidth parts (BWPs) in communications system operating according to new radio (NR) technologies. In an exemplary method, a user equipment (UE) receives system information (SI) via a transmission in a downlink (DL) bandwidth part (BWP) of a system bandwidth and transmits, to a serving base station (BS) and in response to receiving the SI, an indication that the UE has completed SI acquisition.

Abstract: A UE transmits to a source base station a capability of the UE associated with a bandwidth class or a band combination. The capability is associated with a handover in which the UE maintains connections with the source base station and a target base station. The UE receives a handover message comprising at least one of a target base station configuration to apply during handover execution or a source base station configuration to apply during handover execution based on the capability of the UE. The UE establishes a connection with the target base station and maintains a connection with the source base station over a period of time during the handover. The UE communicates with the source base station and the target base station during handover execution using at least one of the target base station configuration or the source base station configuration.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, a paging message indicating information for communication between the network node and the UE. In some examples, the UE may receive, from a network node, a downlink alert message indicating a paging message for subsequent transmission to the UE. The UE may identify a delay based on receiving the paging message or the downlink alert message, a measurement of a communication link satisfying a threshold, or any combination thereof. The UE may establish an uplink connection with the network node based at least in part on an expiration of the delay. The UE may communicate the information using the uplink connection.

In an implementation, the disclosure includes transmitting the UE band combination constraint information, such as in the form of receiving a total number of layers supported in a CA band combination, and wherein receiving the UE configuration further comprises receiving a CA combination and a BPC configuration in response to the UE band combination constraint information.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to reporting difference in timing between cells using multiple connectivity in a wireless network. A first connection served by at least a first cell and a second connection served by at least a second cell to facilitate communicating with at least the first cell and at least the second cell are established. A reporting configuration specifying one or more parameters related to reporting a timing difference between cells is received. A timing difference between at least the first cell and at least the second cell is determined, and the timing difference is reported to at least the first cell over the first connection or to at least the second cell over the second connection. This can facilitate scheduling time aligned operations over the first and second cells, or related cell groups, in multiple connectivity.

Abstract: Coverage enhancements and coverage mode switching related optimizations are discussed for user equipments (UEs) that may switch between various coverage extension (CE) and non-CE modes of operation. In such enhancements, paging uncertainty and delays may be reduced by sending pages either simultaneously or using historical information over multiple coverage modes available to UEs. Random access procedures may be improved by providing CE mode random access procedures that are available when normal mode random access attempts fail and before declaring radio link failure. Additional aspects include improvements for more advanced UEs to improve coverage within normal mode operations by leveraging techniques used for narrowband CE mode operations, including transmission repetition and gapless transmission scheduling over hopped narrowband frequencies.
