The invention relates to a method for cleaning objects in a cleaning vessel using liquid carbon dioxide, wherein the cleaning vessel is at least partly filled with liquid carbon dioxide. Prior to and/or during the cleaning operation the pressure within said cleaning vessel is raised to a value above the corresponding vapour pressure. A gas other than carbon dioxide is introduced into said cleaning vessel and at least a portion of the cleaning operation is performed after the introduction of said gas.

An aerosol spray cleaner comprises two containers and a dispenser with a single dispensing spray outlet. One container has a cleaning composition and the other has an oxidizing composition. An integrally molded actuator includes a resiliently cantilevered lever connected to container valves to simultaneously open the valves to dispense the two fluids through the dispensing spray outlet. A handle extends laterally of the containers so grasp the handle and depress the actuator with a thumb.

A fabric treatment composition that includes a hydrophobic agent with a melting point or glass transition temperature below 100° C. and optionally, a fluoropolymer, that imparts fabric protection benefits, including improved stain and soil resistance, oil repellency, water repellency, softness, wrinkle and damage resistance, and better handfeel to treated fabrics. Compositions may further include a zeta potential modifier in an amount sufficient to adjust the zeta potential of the composition to be positive and greater, than zero millivolts. The composition can be used as a pretreatment prior to drying or ironing, through soaking or direct spray application, or used prior to or during the drying cycle of an automatic drying machine or clothing refresher machine, or used prior to or in conjunction with an ironing device. The fabric treatment is complete when the fabric treated by contact with the protective composition is then cured by drying and/or heating. The invention further includes a kit providing a means for convenient dispensing of the protective composition to effect treatment and curing of fabric articles.

The invention is a method for dry cleaning with binary vapor in which articles such as fabrics and the like are subjected to tumbling in a basket or chamber while heated air is circulated through said chamber. While being tumbled, the articles are exposed to binary vapor consisting of water and solvent under pressure which loosens or removes debris and soils from the articles. The debris and soils are carried by the air and binary vapor to a filter where the soils and debris are captured with the binary vapor continuing on to a condenser where the binary vapor is converted to binary liquid. Upon conclusion of the cycle the articles are removed from the chamber.

A fabric treatment article for use in a conventional home clothes dryer is described that deodorizes and freshens clothing in need of freshening without imparting additional stains. The product is particularly suited for delivering a fragrance to relatively dry clothing and can be added directly to the dryer without the need for a bag to contain the product and clothing during the dryer cycle.

Abstract of the Disclosure A manual spray cleaner for removing dirt and stains from fabrics and carpets comprising a spray bottle having two separate chambers and a single dispensing spray outlet for dispensing controlled amounts of liquids from each of the chambers. One of the chambers has a fabric/carpet cleaning composition therein and the other chamber has an oxidizing composition that enhances the cleanability of the fabric/carpet cleaning composition. The fabric/carpet cleaning composition and the oxidizing composition are simultaneously drawn from their respective chambers and mixed together at the time that they are dispensed from the spray bottle. At least one of the oxidizing composition and the fabric/carpet cleaning composition includes a fabric/carpet protectant. The two compositions are mixed before or after they are sprayed from the bottle. The two compositions can be pressurized with an aerosol propellant or drawn from their respective chambers by a mechanical pump.
