    Abstract: An electronic device may include a display with a display panel that emits light into an optical system. The system provides the light and world light to an eye box. The system may be implemented using a folded birdbath architecture. The system may include a partial reflector and a reflective polarizer in freeform curved rotationally asymmetric surfaces. The system may include two or three optical wedges. An air gap may separate two of the wedges. A quarter waveplate may be layered over the reflective polarizer and/or the partial reflector. A privacy filter may overlap the partial reflector. The wedges may perform total internal reflections on the light. The system may provide a horizontal field of view of the light to the eye box at a different point than a vertical field of view. A switchable shutter may overlap the system and may be synchronized to an external device display.

    Abstract: In a head-mounted device, position and motion sensors may be included to determine the orientation of the head-mounted device. A motion sensor may experience error that accumulates over time, sometimes referred to as drift. To mitigate the effect of drift in a motion sensor, a reference orientation for the motion sensor may be reset when a qualifying motion is detected. The qualifying motion may be detected using one or more criteria such as a total change in angular orientation or rate of change in angular orientation. The reference orientation for the motion sensor may also be reset when a duration of time elapses without a qualifying motion being detected.

    Abstract: A display may include a waveguide that directs image light to an eye box. The waveguide may include an optical coupler that redirects and replicates the light. The coupler may include a surface relief grating (SRG). The SRG may have a pitch that varies continuously along an axis orthogonal its ridges. The pitch may vary sinusoidally, linearly, parabolically, or according to other continuous and differentiable functions of position along the axis. The SRG may diffract the light. Upon diffracting the light, the SRG may impart a phase to the light. The phase may vary continuously as a function of position along a first axis and may, if desired, vary continuously as a function of position along a second axis orthogonal to the first axis. The SRG may prevent formation of coherent light paths after replication, thereby maximizing the efficiency of the system.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) implementing power control for a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure is provided. The UE determines a first transmission power of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble to be used during a 2-step RACH procedure. The UE determines a second transmission power of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission to be used during the 2-step RACH procedure based on the first transmission power of the PRACH preamble. The UE then performs the 2-step RACH procedure based on the first transmission power of the PRACH preamble and the second transmission power of the PUSCH transmission. The UE switches to a 4-step RACH procedure from the 2-step RACH procedure based on a determination that the PRACH preamble was successfully detected and the PUSCH transmission was falsely detected, and performs the 4-step RACH procedure based on the first transmission power of the PRACH preamble.

    Abstract: Approaches for performing Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) transmissions include receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from a base station, an indicator of a plurality of precoders corresponding to M Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) repetitions, wherein M is an integer. A plurality of precoders corresponding to two or more of the M PUSCH repetitions are indicated. The UE configures the plurality of precoders based on the indicator and transmits one or more of the M Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) repetitions corresponding to one or more of the plurality of precoders. The indicator can be provided in higher layer signaling. One or more transmission rank indicator (TRIs) and transmission precoder matrix indicators (TPMIs) for the M PUSCH repetitions can be provided. The indicator can be provided in a scheduling downlink control indicator (DCI) communication. The indicator can also be provided within N sounding reference signal (SRS) resource indicator(s) (SRIs) of the scheduling DCI.
