Abstract: Systems and method for generating Ethernet modules based on base designs. After a processor receives a base design for an industrial device assembly, the processor may calculate electrical load limits for sections of the base design based on dimensions of the sections, a number of sections, a location of the industrial device assembly, and the like. Based on the electrical load limits, the processor may determine a number of Ethernet modules for the sections and respective placements of the Ethernet modules within the base design. The processor may update a layout of the industrial device assembly based on the number of Ethernet modules for the sections and respective placements of the Ethernet modules within the base design.

Abstract: Systems and method for generating a base design and corresponding layout based on client data and an electrical load list. The electrical load list may include any number of electrical components for an industrial device assembly. A processor may determine parameters that define levels of operations for each of the electrical components based on the client data and subsequently identify a set of base designs based on the parameters. Additionally, supporting modules that assist operations of at lead one of the electrical components may be added to the base design. In turn, the set of base designs and corresponding supporting modules may be displayed to a user as a set of visualizations. In response to receiving a selection of a particular visualization that represents a particular base design, the processor may generate and display a layout corresponding to the particular base design.

Abstract: A component includes a housing mounted at an entry point of an enclosure protecting a machine. The component includes a first RFID sensor, in the housing, that reads a first RFID tag in close proximity to the first RFID sensor indicating a closed status of a movable barrier of the enclosure at the entry point. Opening of the movable barrier allows entry to the enclosure. The component includes a second RFID sensor, in the housing, that reads a second RFID tag of an authorized person. The component includes a barrier access module that sends an open alert that the movable barrier is in an open state in response to the first RFID sensor not being close enough to read the first RFID tag, and an identification module that sends tag information unique to a person from the second RFID tag.

Abstract: An industrial integrated development environment (IDE) supports a testing framework that verifies operation of all aspects of the project (e.g., controller code, HMI screens or other visualizations, panel layouts, wiring schedules, etc.). As part of this testing framework, automation objects supported by the industrial IDE include associated test scripts designed to execute one or more test scenarios appropriate to the type of automation object or project being tested. Test scripts can also be associated with portions of the system project. The testing platform applies testing to the automation project as a whole in a holistic manner rather than to specific portions of a control program, verifying linkages across design platforms (e.g., control code, visualization, panel layouts, wiring, piping, etc.) that may otherwise not be tested.

Abstract: A control system may include a processor that may receive a first dataset associated with a current received at a load device coupled to a relay device. The processor may also determine harmonics data associated with the current and determine a switching profile to control moving a first armature of three armatures in the relay device based on the harmonics data. The switching profile is configured to control movement of the first armature between a first position and a second position, and wherein the switching profile comprises a firing angle for moving the first armature with respect to an electrical waveform, a second armature, and a third armature. The processor may then control a current provided to a relay coil of the relay device based on the switching profile, such that the relay coil causes the first armature to move.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for providing sets of compatible firmware versions (e.g., cross-compatibility solution) for flashing (e.g., programming or re-programming) different devices of a network of devices (e.g., an industrial automation system) when using a flashing application. Providing the compatible firmware versions of such network of devices may facilitate flashing the devices with compatible firmware, based on a topology of the network of devices, to prevent functional errors in the network of devices. The present systems and methods may also be applicable to determining and providing cross-compatibility solution between different firmware, as well as software, used by different devices of a network of devices. That said, although embodiments described herein are with respect to providing sets of compatible firmware versions for firmware associated with devices of a network, it should be appreciated that similar systems and methods may provide sets of compatible software versions associated with various devices of a network.

Abstract: Techniques to facilitate communication between remote industrial assets are disclosed herein. In at least one implementation, a computing system provides a virtual private network (VPN) service for an industrial automation network of an industrial automation enterprise. The computing system communicates with a first gateway system to establish a first connection between a first industrial asset and the VPN service for the industrial automation network. The computing system also communicates with a second gateway system to establish a second connection between a second industrial asset and the VPN service for the industrial automation network, wherein the second industrial asset is located at a disparate location than the first industrial asset. Bi-directional communications are routed between the first industrial asset and the second industrial asset to enable interactions between the first industrial asset and the second industrial asset as if they were directly connected over a same local communication network.

Abstract: A motor control center includes an enclosure comprising an isolation switch, a main contactor device, and a ground switch device. The isolation switch is selectively manually operable between a connected state and a disconnected state. In the connected state the isolation switch is adapted to conduct electrical power from an associated power source to the main contactor device and wherein the isolation switch in the disconnected state interrupts conduction of electrical power from the associated power source to the main contactor device. The main contactor device is selectively operable between a conductive state and a non-conductive state, wherein the main contactor device is adapted to electrically connect the isolation switch to the ground switch device and to an associated electrical load when the main contactor device is in its conductive state and wherein the main contactor device disconnects said isolation switch from the ground switch device and the associated electrical load when the main contactor device is in its non-conductive state. The ground switch device is manually operable from an open, ungrounded state in which the main contactor device is electrically disconnected from a ground path to a closed, grounded state in which the main contactor device is electrically connected to the ground path. The motor control center further includes a first interlock device operably connected between the isolation switch and the ground switch device, wherein the first interlock device prevents movement of the isolation switch from the disconnected state to the connected state when the ground switch device is in the grounded state.
