Abstract: A curtain hanging device is disclosed. The curtain hanging device features a rod which has a rectangular cross section composed of a first surface, a second surface, a third surface, a fourth surface, and a fifth surface. The first and fifth surfaces of the rod lie within the same plane and are spaced opposite and parallel to the plane of the third surface. The first and fifth surfaces have a lateral dimension less than that of the third surface and are spaced from each other, such that a channel is formed along the length of the curtain hanging device. The curtain hanging device includes at least one I shaped slide member. The I shaped slide member has a first end, a second end and a web connecting the first and second ends. The first end has a pair of side surfaces and is dimensioned to slide within and along the channel such that the pair of side surfaces remain parallel to the second and forth surfaces. The second end has a grooved surface and a pair of horizontal surfaces. The grooved surface has a concave groove extending substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of the I shaped slide member along the channel. The horizontal surfaces abut the grooved surface. The curtain hanging device also includes an overlay. The overlay has an affixing means and a brace portion. The affixing means are disposed to allow removably affixing the overlay to the I shaped slide member. The brace portion has a mating surface and an attachment surface. The mating surface has a convex portion dimensioned to mate with the concave grooved surface of the second end of the I shaped slide member. The attachment surface is provided with one portion of a two portion self-adhering material.

Abstract: An improved method for draping curtains which allows one person to form a decorative window treatment without requiring any specialized skills or training. The method allows a curtain to be draped from a curtain rod of conventional configuration in a decorative manner about a window opening. The method uses hook and loop type fastening means to secure the curtain fabric to the curtain rod and thereby prevents the curtain from sagging at the top. Simple curtain rings are placed over the ends of the depending curtain fabric and then installed on the curtain rod near its ends to allow a portion of the curtain to form a decorative downwardly curved arc of fabric. The newly formed arc is then "dressed" or folded into pleats to complete the decorative window treatment. The improved method is also shown applied to a bay window treatment.An alternate embodiment is shown with the draped end portion of the curtain fabric looped and fastened to the curtain rod to allow a decorative puff to be formed in the looped fabric adjacent the curtain rings.

Abstract: A thermally protective drapery construction comprises retaining rod means and inner and outer panels of drapery material arranged in suspended, separated relationship on the retaining rod means. The separated drapery panels are supported in a manner such that a thermally resistant critical air spacing is provided and extends between the panels and at a substantially uniform value. In the case of folds of respective inner and outer panels which are moved toward and away from one another along the retaining rod means, uniformity of the spacing is maintained during such movement.The critical air spacing consists of a thermally resistant air space provided by locating the panels apart from one another a distance lying in a range of from 0.25 inches up to approximately 0.5 inches. Such a spacing between upper portions of the inner and outer panels of drapery material is achieved by securing together the panels with snap fastening carriers on the retaining rod and snap fastening tapes secured to the panels and attached to the carriers in spaced apart relation. Intermediate and lower portions of the inner panel also have fastened thereto fibrous separator means. The separator means may be of a thickness co-responding to the above-noted critical air spacing and extend into contact with the outer panel. The retainer rod means includes a heat cap attached by bracket means to a wall surface and located in closely spaced relation to upper edges of the drapery folds to constitute an air baffle which is maintained in effect when the drapery folds are opened and closed. The inner panel has a vertical edge seal which is also maintained when the inner and outer drapery folds are opened and closed and which permits access to a cord and pulley located between the panels without breaking the edge seal.

Abstract: A skirting support system for mounting a skirt to a peripheral edge of an article of furniture in accordance with the invention includes a plurality of resilient clips. Each of the clips includes a face portion having outer and inner surfaces. First fasteners are disposed at the outer surface of the clip face portions. Each of the clips further includes upper and lower extentions, transversely intersecting the face portion. A flexible elongate track member having upper and lower portions and a centrally disposed slot adapted to receive the upper extension of the clips is provided to be attached to the peripheral edge of the article of furniture. The track member is flexible to conform to the contour of the article along the peripheral edge. Each of the clips engages the track member, such that the lower track portion is disposed between the clip extension and abuts against the clip face inner surface while the upper clip extension engages the centrally disposed slot of the track member. Skirting includes second fasteners for detachably coupling to the first fasteners of the plurality of clips. The skirting is coupled to the track member such that the clips and fasteners are hidden from view by the upper portion of the track member.

Abstract: A drapery hanger is provided for the detachable support in parallel, spaced relationship of first and second panels, such as a drapery material and a liner material. Thus, either the liner material or the drapery material may be easily and conveniently removed and subsequently replaced without disturbing the other thereof. Abstract: This applicator has a conical shaped handle that is opened and recessed at its forward end and is provided with an edge and forming in section generally to a hooked part of a hook pin having a series of grooves along the edge for receiving the loops of the hook pins to steady the same so that upon pushing the handle with the hook pin into the drapery the hook pin is thereby easily inserted without the use of fingers. In order to have the hook pins properly aligned relative to the upper edge of the drapery a measuring means extends from the open end of the handle and has a laterally extending portion on its upper end that can engage the upper edge of the drapery to locate the pointed end of the hook pin at the proper distance from the upper edge so that all of the hook pins assembled upon the handle will be inserted in accordance with the distance between the laterally extending plate portion, the measuring device and the point of insertion of the hook pin assembled upon the handle. A chuck means is used for providing for an adjustable measuring device in which the adjustable member has a stem that extends into the chuck device. The chuck device extends from a sleeve portion in the open end of the handle. The measuring device can thereby be adjusted for different distances of application of the pointed ends of the hook pins into the drapery material from the upper edge of the drapery.

Abstract: In a spring-loaded curtain mount, the mount includes a pole interface at a proximal end, a compressive mechanism, and a head at a distal end. The pole interface is adapted to receive the end of a standard length adjustable pole or a painter's pole. The compression mechanism is disposed between the proximal end of the mount and the head. The mount includes a coupling device adapted to receive a portion of a curtain. During installation, the curtain mount is coupled to the end of an extension pole and the length of the pole is adjusted such that the combined length of the pole and mount is slightly longer than the distance between the floor and ceiling. At ground level, a portion of the curtain is attached to the head of the curtain mount. The curtain and mount are raised to the ceiling and the mount and pole are compressed between the floor and the ceiling. This compressive force operates to urge the head toward the ceiling, securing the mount in place.
