1,063,722. Refrigerating in vehicles. SOC. D'EXPLOITATION DES MATERIELS HISPANO-SUIZA. March 11, 1965 [March 16, 1964], No. 10443/65. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] Compressed air from a supercharger 2 of a vehicle engine is cooled in a first heat exchanger 6 by a cooling fluid, e.g. engine coolant, and in a second heat exchanger 8 comprising the evaporator 9 of a refrigerator having its compressor 12 driven from the engine through a controllable driving means 16. The drive means 16 is controlled from the lever 50 controlling the engine fuel supply 75, whereby movement of the lever 50 to increase the fuel supply to accelerate the engine alters the driving means 16 to increase the power of the refrigerator circuit. The drive means 16 maycomprise a variable pulley drive, hydraulic drive, or electric drive. As shown, superchargers 1, 2, in series are driven by an exhaust driven turbine 4. A valve 11 opens automatically during acceleration to admit atmospheric air to the induction system at a point between the heat exchangers 6, 8.
