Abstract: The connector (200) can join an end of a first flexible thermoplastic tube segment (202) to an end of at least a second flexible thermoplastic tube segment (202). The connector (200) is made of a thermoplastic material allowing, through heat fusion, to join the inner surface (244) of the receptacles (240, 260) of the connector (200) to the outer surface (206) of the corresponding tube segments (202), and this, without creating a gap or an irregularity inside the portion of the liquid circuit. The heat fusion can result in airtight and robust joints made with a high precision and that are uniform, even if they can be made under difficult conditions. The proposed concept can be particularly useful in sugar making.

Abstract: The device is provided for collecting sap from a tapped hole of a tree. It includes a collector having a substantially frustoconical outer peripheral wall surface and an inner peripheral wall surface. The collector also has a portion that is removably insertable into the tapped hole with a frictional engagement. The material between the peripheral wall surfaces at the removably-insertable collector portion is elastically and temporality deformable in response to a peripheral pressure exerted inwardly on the outer peripheral wall surface when the removably-insertable collector portion is inserted with a forced frictional fit into the tapped hole.

Abstract: The vented pouring spout includes a main body and a valve system movable between a normally closed position and a fully opened position. The main body includes a first member and a second member. The valve system includes a valve member and two spaced-apart and parallel stems projecting from an inner side of the valve member into the first member. A push button is mounted within a housing and is in an axial force-transmitting engagement with the stems. The spout, among other things, can include a child-resistant closure (CRC) device that can be operated using a single finger, for instance the thumb or any other finger, and while holding a small container.

Abstract: The tubing connector system (100) provides a removable air-tight and water-tight sealing connection under vacuum conditions between an end portion (102) of a flexible tubing (104) and a tapping hole (108) on a main conduit (106). It includes a single screw-type clamp (120) having an adjustable tension mechanism (122) and a flexible metallic band (124) cooperating with the adjustable tension mechanism (122), a tube fitting (150), and a resilient gasket (180), to be interposed between an outer surface of the main conduit (106) and the inner side face of a flange (170) provided on the tube fitting (104), to seal a space immediately surrounding a tapping-hole engaging portion (162) on the tube fitting (104) when brought into cooperative engagement with the inner periphery of tapping hole (108). The sealing attachment can be created very quickly, even by an unexperienced operator, using parts that are relatively inexpensive and simple.

Abstract: The pouring spout includes a first tube detachably connectable to a liquid-storage container, a second tube slideably connected to the first tube, and a liquid outlet duct and an air inlet duct. The liquid outlet duct and the air inlet duct can be both selectively opened and closed by a spring-biased valve system. The air inlet duct, when the valve system is moved from a closed position to an opened position, is initially made in fluid communication with the liquid-storage container only either simultaneously with the liquid outlet duct or immediately after the liquid outlet duct is initially made in fluid communication with the liquid-storage container. This arrangement prevents the liquid from filling the air inlet duct when the liquid is poured using the pouring spout. It also minimizes evaporation and permeability of the liquid on internal surfaces inside the pouring spout.
