Abstract:
A plasma display panel adapted to minimize noise/vibration as well as a heat generated therefrom. In the plasma display panel, a display panel displays a picture while a porous pad is provided behind the display panel to prevent the transfer of noise/vibration to an associated heat proof panel. When the PDP is mounted within a case, a second porous pad can be provided on an inner surface of the case opposite the display panel and adjacent to an associated printed circuit board for additional noise/vibration damping.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method support intuitive gestures for turning electronic book (e-book) pages in a portable terminal. The portable terminal executes an e-book and determines whether a just preceding page gesture is input, the just preceding page gesture comprising a first contact that starts to the left of a right-side user interface (UI) activation region of the e-book, followed by a drag toward the right while maintaining the first contact and releasing the first contact. When the just preceding page gesture is input, the just preceding page is displayed on a screen.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for configuring a screen for a video call using a facial expression by recognizing a face from an image, calculating facial expression information for an expression of the recognized face, and determining whether there is a change in expression of the recognized face by comparing the calculated facial expression information with reference expression information preset to determine a change in expression of the face. If there is a change in expression of the recognized face, the apparatus and method selects a video image corresponding to the changed expression in the video call screen, and reconfigures the video call screen using the selected video image, making it possible for a user to conveniently select an image of the interested person without taking extensive action, and preventing a wrong image from being selected due to the unintended user facial movement.
Abstract:
An event display apparatus includes a configuration unit to configure a screen to include a time region, which is divided by time intervals along a first axis into a plurality of sub-time regions, and an event region, which is divided by event into a plurality of sub-event regions, in parallel to the first axis; and an output unit to output time slots, which has been allocated according to one or more zones, in the respective sub-time regions along the first axis, and to output sub-event regions comprising event information of different types, which correspond to the set time slots, in parallel to the first axis.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for arranging an icon in a touch screen terminal includes selecting an icon, indicating the selected icon with another pointing image, designating a position in another screen, and arranging the selected icon at the designated position.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for determining a key input in computing equipment having a touch screen are provided. The method for determining the key input in the computing equipment includes, upon occurrence of a touch input on the touch screen, determining an input type of the touch input, expanding a key input recognition region of at least one key when the input type is a finger touch input, and detecting the key input according to the expanded key input recognition region.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an LCD with improved image retention for increased reliability and screen quality. The LCD includes lower and upper substrates provided with predetermined patterns, respectively, and positioned to face each other with a predetermined distance; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the lower and upper substrates; and alignment layers positioned between the lower substrate and the liquid crystal layer and the upper substrate and the liquid crystal layer, respectively, to determine the initial arrangement of liquid crystals. The alignment layers have bubbles formed therein to reduce the capacitance generated by the alignment layers and the difference in level of the lower substrate for improved image retention.
Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and method for controlling a media player running on a background in a portable terminal. In the apparatus, an input unit includes a plurality of keys, and a control unit sets a key for controlling the media player running on the background using one or more keys of the input unit.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method for providing a background effect to a received message in a mobile communication terminal and an apparatus thereof. The method includes parsing a received message and checking whether a specific character is contained in the received message; and when the specific character is contained in the received message, outputting a background effect, which is set in the specific character, together with the received message. Accordingly, the monotony of simple texts in a message service can be avoided. Also, different background effects can be displayed in the received messages, thus attracting more interest of the users.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a mobile terminal (MT) for acquiring information related to an image photographed through the MT's camera module. The MT captures a desired image in the photographed image, and either internally searches for information related to the captured image or transmits an information request to an information server via MT the Internet or a wireless network. Upon receiving the captured image from the mobile terminal, the information server recognizes an image pattern or a character from the captured image, and searches for information related thereto. Alternatively, upon receiving an image pattern or a character, the information server searches for information related to the received image pattern or character. The information server transmits the searched information to the MT, and the MT displays the received information for the user.
