Abstract:
One embodiment of a device includes a network filter configured to filter a plurality of network streams in real-time at the network analysis device to access at least one of the plurality of network streams based on filter parameters input to the network filter. The device further includes a processor configured to compile network information associated with the accessed at least one of the plurality of network streams to allow interaction with the network information.
Abstract:
A method of evaluating the effect of a xenobiotic on biomarkers, such as drug transporters and drug-metabolizing enzymes in hepatocytes is provided. The method comprises the formation of a xenobiotic-stimulated biological sample, such as whole blood, which contains a plurality of cytokines. A portion of xenobiotic-stimulated biological sample is cultured with hepatocytes. The hepatocytes are then analyzed to evaluate the activity of drug transporters and/or drug-metabolizing enzymes, or other biomarkers to determine the effect of the xenobiotic on drug metabolism in the hepatocytes.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for the encapsulation of living cells with a silica glass layer. The methods comprise adding a sol solution to cells in buffered media, forming a sol-gel layer on the cells and then diluting the media or removing the cells from the media.
Abstract:
Systems and methods may be provided for lookahead instruction fetching for processors. The systems and methods may include an L1 instruction cache, where the L1 instruction cache may include a plurality of lines of data, where each line of data may include one or more instructions. The systems and methods may also include a tagless hit instruction cache, where the tagless hit instruction cache may store a subset of the lines of data in the L1 instruction cache, where instructions in the lines of data stored in the tagless hit instruction cache may be stored with metadata indicative of whether a next instruction is guaranteed to reside in the tagless hit instruction cache, where an instruction fetcher may be arranged to have direct access to the L1 instruction cache and the tagless hit instruction cache, and where the tagless hit instruction cache may be arranged to have direct access to the L1 instruction cache.
Abstract:
A collaborative authoring application provides an authoring environment in which two or more users can edit a document concurrently. Each user edits a copy of the document, sends updates to a master copy of the document, and receives updates from the master copy of the document. The authoring environment generally inhibits the users from providing conflicting editing instructions to the master copy of the document. For example, each user can generate a content lock about one or more data units within the document. The authoring environment may synchronize content locks automatically and content only at the request of the user.
Abstract:
A cyclonic separation apparatus comprising at least two series connected separation stages and a receptacle for collecting material separated by the separation stages is described. The first stage comprises a first cyclone separator, and the second stage comprises a plurality of parallel connected second cyclone separators. The first and second separation stages are connected by at least one transfer duct which extends through the receptacle and transfers fluid that has been partly cleaned by the first separation stage to the second separation stage.
Abstract:
A method of configuring software on a computer is disclosed herein. The software comprises at least one module and the computer comprises a nonvolatile storage having at least one address. An embodiment of the method comprises loading a flag into the address; reading the flag using the software; and activating the module in the software depending on the state of the flag, wherein activating the module causes at least one program to be installed on the computer.

Abstract:
A method of encapsulating a population of cells in a porous matrix is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of providing a silica sol mixture, aerosolizing the silica sol mixture to form a silica sol vapor, and coating the cell population with the silica sol vapor, wherein the vapor condenses to form a sol-gel matrix encapsulating the cell population.
Abstract:
Fiber optic connectors and other structures that can be easily and quickly prepared by the craft for termination and/or connectorization in the field are disclosed. More specifically, the fiber optic connectors and other structures disclosed are intended for use with glass optical fibers having a large core. In one embodiment, the fiber optic connector includes a ferrule having a bore sized to receive an optical fiber and a buffer layer at a front end face of the ferrule. Methods of making the fiber optic connectors and other structures are also disclosed. The methods disclosed allow “rough cutting” of the optical fibers with a buffer layer thereon by the craft.
