摘要: The present disclosure relates to a central tension line for an overhead power transmission cable having a damage detection function and an overhead power transmission cable comprising same, wherein it is possible to detect whether the central tension line is damaged before installing the overhead transmission cable on a pylon or before clamping for the installation of the overhead transmission cable, and after installing the overhead transmission cable on the pylon; and the central tension line has excellent tensile strength, thus having excellent sag properties preventing the wired overhead transmission cable from sagging, and has flexibility, thus improving wiring workability, while the central tension line suppresses corrosion and damage to a conductor wire disposed around the central tension line, and thus eliminates or minimizes an increase in resistance of the overhead transmission cable and the resultant reduction in transmission capacity, and enables the reduction of weight and manufacturing costs.

摘要: A multi-core optical fibre comprises a plurality of cores embedded in cladding. The cladding comprises a polymer. The cladding has an outer cross-sectional shape with an order of rotational symmetry of less than or equal to 4. By limiting the rotational symmetry of the multi-core optical fibre, rotational alignment of the cores with light sources/light detectors may be made easier. Also provided are optical cables and kits including the multi-core optical fibre, and a method of fabricating a multi-core polymer optical fibre.

The core region can have a radius r1 in a range from 3 μm to 7 μm and a relative refractive index profile Δ1 having a maximum relative refractive index Δ1max in the range from 0.25% to 0.50%. The cladding region can include a first outer cladding region and a second outer cladding region surrounding and directly adjacent to the first outer cladding region. The first outer cladding region can have a radius r4a. The second outer cladding region can have a radius r4b less than or equal to 45 μm and comprising silica based glass doped with titania.

摘要: A tapered fiber optoacoustic emitter includes a nanosecond laser configured to emit laser pulses and an optic fiber. The optic fiber includes a tip configured to guide the laser pulses. The tip has a coating including a diffusion layer and a thermal expansion layer, wherein the diffusion layer includes epoxy and zinc oxide nanoparticles configured to diffuse the light while restricting localized heating. The thermal expansion layer includes carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) configured to convert the laser pulses to generate ultrasound. The frequency of the ultrasound is tuned with a thickness of the diffusion layer and a CNT concentration of the expansion layer.

摘要: Disclosed is an optical waveguide, for transmitting a guided optical light beam having a wavelength greater than 180 nm. The waveguide includes a core layer for guiding light made of a first material having a first index of refraction, and a cladding layer made of a thermoplastic elastomer. Also disclosed are: a medical device and also to a waveguide sensor including the optical waveguide of the invention; a method of fabrication of the optical waveguide. The method includes a step of providing a thermoplastic elastomer preform having a central longitudinal aperture for introducing a liquid polymer, before or after reducing and elongating the preform to a predetermined length and lateral dimension. The method includes a polymerizing step of the core of the formed optical waveguide; and use of the optical waveguide in association with a surgical instrument.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a composition comprising 65 to 95 weight percent of a fluorinated monofunctional monomer; 5 to 35 weight percent of a fluorinated multifunctional monomer; and 0.5 to 3 weight percent of a silane coupling agent; where all weight percents are based on the total weight of the composition; where the fluorinated monofunctional monomer and the fluorinated multifunctional monomer are devoid of any trifunctional fluorocarbon moieties when they have 6 or more fluorocarbon repeat units; where the fluorocarbon repeat units are CF2 or CF moieties; and where a crosslinked composition has a shore D hardness of 56 to 85 and has a refractive index (RI) that meets the limitation of the equation RI≤1.368+10.8/X, where X denotes wavelength in nanometers.
