Abstract:
A method and apparatus for changing settable email parameters in a system supporting email using a wireless device, the system including a wireless electronic device and a wireless network. Provided is a way of changing email settings on the wireless device, and storing those changes on both the device and, as needed or desired, on the wireless network. The wireless network and wireless device are adapted to wirelessly communicate with each other.
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating determination of whether database copies are in match with one another. A group hash is formed, associated with a group of data records of one of the database copies. The group hash is communicated, by way of a radio air interface, and the value of the group hash is compared with a corresponding value associated with a corresponding group of data records of the other database copy. If the values of the group hashes correspond, a determination is made that the groups of database records of the database are in match with one another. And, through communication of only a single group hash on the radio air interface, database correspondence of the group data records of the database copies are determined.
Abstract:
In a computer system, a system, method and computer program product for pre-selecting a folder for a current message. The system, method and computer program product involve (a) providing a folder pre-selection cache having n configurable entries, n being a predetermined positive integer greater than one, each configurable entry being configured to include an associated pre-selection criterion for matching with the current message, and an associated folder identification for identifying an associated folder in the plurality of folders; (b) for at least one entry in the folder pre-selection cache, comparing a comparison criterion, obtained from the current message, with the associated pre-selection criterion to determine a matching entry in the folder pre-selection cache; and, (c) pre-selecting the folder identified by the associated folder identification of the matching entry when the message comparison module determines the matching entry in the folder pre-selection cache.
Abstract:
In some embodiments of the present invention, files are generated from java files or class files or jar files. The generated files are directly linkable and interpretable by a Java Virtual Machine. The generated files may be stored in a directly addressable memory of a device. References between class files may appear in the generated files as hard offsets or symbolic references. The generated files may be grouped so that cross-references between generated files in the same group appear as hard offsets.
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating initiation of synchronization operations between databases in a radio communication system. A network-based database copy and a mobile-based database copy are maintained, and asynchronously updated. Synchronization operations synchronize the databases to place the databases in match with one another. Session state information is maintained, and communicated between the mobile node and the network part pursuant to start of a synchronization session.
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for placing data that is to be communicated pursuant to a synchronization session into efficient form. The synchronization session operates to synchronize database copies to place the data records of the database copies in match with one another. A coordinator coordinates change entries that are placed into a change listing. The coordination removes redundancies of the change entries so that the change entries that form a change history are maintained in efficient form, thereby to minimize the bandwidth required upon a radio air interface to communicate such information pursuant to a synchronization session.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for wireless systems provide a mechanism to enhance the communication capabilities of wireless users. In an embodiment, data is stored on a wireless mobile device, where the data is correlated to information to install a wireless server on an electronic system. At least a portion of the data from the wireless mobile device may be downloaded to initiate installation of the wireless server on the electronic system.
Abstract:
A method of mapping a location of an event that is scheduled in a calendar application includes steps of identifying a contact associated with the event, determining address information associated with the contact, obtaining map data for the address information, and generating a map of the location associated with the contact based on the map data. Meeting or event locations can thus be mapped even if there is no event location or address information specified directly in the meeting request or appointment.
Abstract:
An application-switching program displays representations of applications, for example icons, on a screen of a device. As a user of the device navigates between the representations, a screen of the application to a representation of which the user has currently navigated is shown in the background of the display.
Abstract:
A collating application for message display and management executes on a communication device. The communication device includes a plurality of message applications associated with various communication channels, each message application receiving and storing messages associated with one of the various communications channels. The collating application dynamically accesses messages stored by the plurality of message applications to retrieve messages that meet defined matching criteria. The collating application permits the user to select a listing of the heterogeneous retrieved messages in a single view on the communication device. Icons associated with the matching criteria are displayable and vary in accordance with the presence or absence of unread messages meeting the matching criteria.
