Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for identifying a base station in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes storing a Neighbor Cell List (NCL) received from a serving base station, obtaining a Physical Cell IDentifier (PCID) from a signal received from a neighbor base station, and identifying whether the neighbor base station is a macro base station or a femto base station by determining whether the obtained PCID exists in the stored NCL.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for automatically searching for a low-power Base Station (BS) supporting access of a registered user in a mobile communication system includes a method of performing automatic search on a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) cell by a User Equipment (UE). The method includes determining by the UE whether automatic search needs to be performed on the CSG cell. The method also includes, if it is determined that automatic search does not need to be performed on the CSG cell, turning off by the UE a CSG cell automatic search function of the UE by emptying a first white list including CSG Identifiers of accessible CSG cells.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for handover in a mobile communication system enables a Mobile Station (MS) to perform a normal handover without performing an unnecessary handover. A Base Station (BS) apparatus capable of preventing an unnecessary handover includes a handover manager. The handover manager receives handover information, including information about at least one cell through which an MS has passed, from a neighbor cell to determine whether the MS has performed an unnecessary handover. If it is determined that the MS has performed an unnecessary handover, the handover manager notifies the occurrence of the unnecessary handover by the MS to the neighbor cell.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for transmitting data of a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer in a mobile communication system. Before an RLC SDU stored in a transmission buffer is discarded, a status report for checking a reception status of a receiving side is requested by a polling trigger either when transmission of the RLC SDU has not been completed, or when an RLC SDU discard timer for the RLC SDU approaches the expiration time, thereby enhancing the data transmission performance of the RLC layer.
