Abstract:
A bar clamp has a slide bar supporting a movable jaw assembly. The slide bar is supported in a fixed jaw assembly. The fixed jaw assembly includes a drive mechanism for moving the slide bar relative to the fixed jaw assembly. Mechanisms for expanding the capacity of the bar clamp including the use of straps and two slide bars. Specialized jaws are provided where the jaws may be removable from the jaw assemblies. Additional clamping jaws are provided in addition to the movable and fixed jaw assemblies for varying the clamping force applied to a workpiece.
Abstract:
Compact tube and pipe expanders and flaring tools requiring reduced actuation force by a user. A flaring tool includes a flaring block and a yoke clampable to the flaring block by a clamping mechanism. The yoke includes a housing having a threaded release portion movable between a first position and a second position. A flaring cone of the yoke has a tapered flaring surface adapted to engage an internal surface of a tube and deform at least the engaged portion of the tube against the flaring block into a flared condition. A threaded feed screw is operatively coupleable to the flaring cone to move the flaring cone into engagement with the internal surface of the tube to deform it. The tool has a handle to rotate the feed screw.
Abstract:
In a device and method for taking temperature readings on an HVAC system, a first probe is connectable in thermal communication with the HVAC system for taking a first temperature reading thereof. A second probe is connectable in thermal communication with the HVAC system for taking a second temperature reading thereof that is independent of the first temperature reading. A digital display is connectable to the first and second probes for displaying the first and second temperature readings.
Abstract:
Saw blades, including band saw blades, reciprocating saw blades, hole saw blades and hand hack saw blades, are made from a bi-metal strip. The bi-metal strip includes a cutting edge defined by a plurality of cutting teeth that is welded to an axially-elongated carbon or spring steel backing. The cutting edge is formed of a high speed steel alloy consisting essentially of: about 8/10% to about 1% carbon, up to about 45/100% silicon, up to about 4/10% manganese, up to about 3/100% phosphorous, up to about 3/100% sulfur, about 4% to about 6% cobalt, about 3% to about 5% chromium, about 4-1/2% to about 5-1/2% molybdenum, about 1% to about 2-1/2% vanadium, about 5-1/2% to about 7% tungsten, and about 74% to about 78-1/2% iron.
Abstract:
A self-contained line generating device uses a laser diode and a lens to project a fan-shaped beam of visible light. The lens is useful for receiving light and transmitting light in an asymmetrical planar beam. The light is useful for aligning objects in a vertical or a horizontal line. The generator also includes a substantially flat face and leveling devices for leveling and orienting the generator onto a flat surface. Retractable pins enable a user to easily mount the line generator onto a wall and align objects.
