Abstract:
An improved system for fabricating convolutely wound tubes includes a supply roll support for supporting a large supply of paperboard, an adhesive applicator for receiving paperboard from the supply roll and applying a coating of adhesive to one side thereof, a cutting station for cutting the paperboard across its length to form sheets of paperboard, and a winding station including a mandrel about which cut sheets of adhesive bearing paperboard are wound into a tubular configuration. As the paperboard is drawn from the supply roll, one of its edges passes sequentially through three corrugating nip rolls, which alternately deform the material of the edge to render it more pliable and flexible. This flexible edge, then, becomes the trailing edge of paperboard sheets that are wound into tubes such that the edge can be easily conformed to the contour of and adhered to the outer surface of the finished tube.
Abstract:
The invention disclosed is a high-speed suspended monorail transport system, characterized by an elevated rail system with a circular rail flange profile, aerodynamic passenger or cargo cars, a computer control system, and electric hub motors. The system utilizes a unique bogie-like wheel assembly that allows the wheels to roll along different areas of the circular rail flange, accommodating bends and curves at varying speeds without the need for conventional suspension systems. The invention also includes an associated computer process for controlling system functions. The transport system offers significant improvements in privacy, comfort, speed, and cost-effectiveness compared to existing solutions. An alternate embodiment and several optional features for enhanced functionality are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A tubular holder with a circular base, a central column, spokes attached to the central columns and ground spikes attached to spokes or bottom of the circular base. In some variations the spokes have orifices for engaging a cup with a cup spike.
Abstract:
The present invention embodies a drill pipe in which various damaged sections of the pipe are repaired in order to maintain or improve the wear and buckle resistance of the drill pipe. The sections are strengthened using various hardening methods such as heat treatment processes and/or expansion techniques. A sleeve can also be applied to the strengthened portions. Surface enhancers, such as hardbanding, can be applied to the strengthened portions or the sleeve in order to provide abrasion resistance or to reduce friction.
Abstract:
A system and method for processing promotional savings using existing communications platforms. A plurality of promotional codes are assigned and stored in a promotions database. These promotional codes are positioned by marketers on products, packaging, or the like, along with instructions informing consumers to transmit the promotional code to a predefined destination address, such as a phone number, a short code text number, or an email address. After a message containing the promotional code is received from the consumer, the received code is parsed from the message, validated, and a promotional savings value associated with the code is identified. That amount is communicated to an operator of at least one account associated the consumer, and applied as a savings to the operator's billing statement.
Abstract:
Photovoltaic modules comprising back-contact solar cells manufactured using monolithic module assembly techniques comprising a flexible circuit comprising a back sheet and a patterned metallization. The module may comprise busses in electrical contact with the patterned metallization to extract the current. The module may alternatively comprise multilevel metallizations. Interlayer dielectric comprising islands or dots relieves stresses due to thermal mismatch. The use of multiple cord plates enables flexible circuit layouts, thus optimizing the module. The modules preferably comprise a thermoplastic encapsulant and/or hybrid adhesive/solder materials. An ultrathin moisture barrier enables roll-to-roll processing.

Abstract:
A system for predicting fall risk for a resident is provided. The system includes a fall risk prediction subsystem, configured to predict a fall risk likelihood for a resident based on data measurements collected from one or more sensors. One or more of the sensors comprise range control radar (RCR) sensors. The fall risk prediction subsystem further includes a fall analysis component configured to analyze the data measurements from one or more of the sensors and a fall risk assessment component configured to predict the fall risk likelihood for the resident based on the analysis.
Abstract:
This invention provides a support for supporting a reflector for a high temperature gas cooled nuclear reactor. The support includes a plurality of straps which extend around the reflector. Each strap includes interconnected segments. The segments are formed of metal and the segments are formed of fibre reinforced ceramic so that the coefficient of thermal expansion of the strap corresponds to that of the reflector. The invention also provides a high temperature gas cooled nuclear reactor and a method of supporting a reflector of a high temperature gas cooled nuclear reactor.
