Abstract: The invention relates to a body illumination system comprising one or more light sources, said light sources being configured for emitting light in a wavelength range of 410-470 nm. The system is configured for exposing to said emitted light a surface area of 0.5-2.0 m2 of said body such that the power density of said emitted light on said surface area of said body is in the range of 20-120 mW/cm2, more preferably 30-100 mW/cm2. Alternatively, the system is configured for exposing to said emitted light a surface area of 10-60 cm′ of said body such that the power density of said emitted light on said surface area of said body is in the range of 10-30 mW/cm2. The body illumination system is for use in treating physical dysfunction, such as hypertension and erectile dysfunction.
