Abstract:
Disclosed are carpet products comprising at least one flexible substrate and at least one coating and/or adhesive layer associated with the at least one flexible substrate. The coating and/or adhesive layer is formed from an aqueous composition comprising: A) an emulsifier-stabilized vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) emulsion copolymer dispersion and B) at least one particulate filler material selected from particulate inorganic compounds and particulate plastic material. The vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer in the copolymer dispersion has a selected ethylene content or glass transition temperature. It is also preferably substantially free of cross-linkable co-monomer moieties which generate formaldehyde upon curing and preferably has a particle size, dw, ranging from about 50 to about 500 nm. The carpet product is substantially free of polyvinyl chloride and bitumen and exhibits a Class B1 flame-retardancy in accordance with DIN 4102-14, corresponding to a critical heat flux of ≧about 4.5 kW/m2.

Disclosed is an aqueous formulation comprising a polymer which is based on a vinyl acetate copolymer, a binder system comprising said aqueous formulation and additionally an aqueous formulation comprising polymer (B). The invention further relates to a fibrous product comprising a fibrous substrate as well as the aqueous formulation or the binder system and use of the aqueous formulation or the binder system for coating synthetic or mineral fibres, for the manufacturing of Eternal Insulation Finishing Systems (EIFS), for increasing the alkali resistance of synthetic or mineral fibres and use in a process for the manufacturing of an alkali resistant glass fibre scrim. Further, the invention relates to a method for the manufacturing of the aqueous formulation.

The compound, bicyclo[4.3.0]nonane-3(4),7(8)-dicarboxylic acid and to a process for its preparation, wherein bicyclo[4.3.0]nona-3,7-diene is reacted with synthesis gas in an homogeneous organic phase in the presence of transition metal compounds of Group VIII of the Periodic Table containing complex-bound organophosphorus compounds, and of excess organophosphorus compound, at temperatures of 70 to 160° C. and pressures of 5 to 35 MPa, and the 3(4),7(8)-bisformylbicyclo[4.3.0]nonane thus obtained is oxidized, or is first hydrogenated to 3(4),7(8)-dihydroxymethylbicyclo[4.3.0]nonane and the diol thus obtained is reacted in an alkali melt.
