    摘要: A self-heat article of clothing to be worn by a person to keep warm during an emergency situation which cannot be inadvertently removed until the emergency situation is over, and a self-heat blanket to cover a person or persons while sleeping, in which the articles of clothing and blankets have a self heating system incorporated therein. The self-heating system includes self-heat disks held in closely spaced apart relationship between an upper and lower layer of fabric material which begin to generate heat when exposed to oxygen in the air. The self-heat disks include a mixture of iron powder, charcoal powder, table salt or sodium chloride mixed together with water, cut into disks having an area dimension of about one square inch each. Airtight enclosures are provided to hold the self-heat articles of clothing and the self-heat blankets to prevent exposure to air and the oxygen in the air until they are to be used. When removed from the airtight enclosures, the self-heat disks become exposed to the oxygen in the air and begin the chemical reaction that generates the heat.

    摘要: A modular barrier includes a plurality of substantially identical barrier sections each section having a base portion surmounted by an upright portion. The upright portion has projections with substantially semi-cylindrical outer surfaces at its ends. Correspondingly shaped recesses are also provided. At a femal end, the base portion includes a nose. The surface of the nose is a surface of rotation of the profile of the base portion. At the male end, the base portion includes a correspondingly shaped cavity. The first and second projections and the nose are provided with bores. When the female end of the barrier section is brought up to a male end of a similar, adjacent barrier section, the projections mate with one another and the nose is received in the cavity of the adjacent barrier section. A hinge pin may then be passed through the bores for allowing one barrier section to be articulated to an adjacent barrier section with the joint between the two portions of adjacent barrier sections presenting an essentially smooth profile irrespective of the angle between the two adjacent barrier sections.

    摘要: We describe a method for interrogating the content and primary structure of DNA by microarray analyses and to provide comprehensive genetic screening and diagnostics prior to embryo transfer within an IVF setting. We will accomplish this by the following claims: 1) an optimized embryo grading system, 2) a less invasive embryo biopsy with reduced cellular contamination, 3) an optimized DNA amplification protocol for single cells, 4) identify aneuploidy and structural chromosome abnormalities using microarrays, 5) identifying sub-telomeric chromosome rearrangements, 6) a modified DNA fingerprinting protocol, 7) determine imprinting and epigenetic changes in developing embryos, 8) performing genome-wide scans to clarify/diagnose multi-factorial genetic disease and to determine genotype/haplotype patterns that may predict future disease, 9) determining single gene disorders with or without a known DNA mutation, 10) determining mtDNA mutations and/or the combination of mtDNA and genomic (nuclear) DNA aberrations that cause genetic disease.

    摘要: An iris valve for controlling the flow of bulk solid materials includes a flexible cylindrical sleeve, a control ring, and a polymeric isolator disc, all sandwiched between upper and lower body members. Rotating the control ring twists the flexible sleeve in an iris pattern to close an opening through the valve. Clamp bands attached to the upper body member and control ring include a machined helical pattern to securely grip the ends of the flexible sleeve, and a threaded handle locks the control ring in place against the body members.
