摘要: A progressive ophthalmic lens element including a lens surface having upper viewing zone providing good optical quality at a predetermined low surface power over a large area of vision; said predetermined power being determined by the viewer's distance prescription (R.sub.x) the horizontal fitting position normally being determined by the inter pupillary distance of the wearer, and the vertical fitting position normally being determined by the vertical frame midpoint; a lower viewing zone of higher surface power providing an enhanced range of vision for intermediate or lesser viewing distances; and a corridor of relatively low astigmatism extending therebetween; wherein the contours of mean surface power and/or surface astigmatism within the lower viewing zone, upper viewing zone and corridor are generally symmetric about a vertical lens meridian.

摘要: A method of designing and/or selecting a progressive addition lens design for a wearer is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes displaying a graphical representation of an initial progressive addition lens design including design parameters having design values. A user interface is provided including, for each of one or more of the design parameters, a control that is adjustable over a range of levels, each level in the range being associated with a corresponding value of the respective design parameter. A control is adjusted to select a level and the selection is processed so as to substantially simultaneously update the displayed graphical representation in accordance with the selected level to provide a modified progressive lens design. A system for designing and/or selecting a progressive addition lens design for a wearer is also disclosed.

摘要: An array of progressive ophthalmic lens elements is disclosed. The progressive ophthalmic elements contained in the array having substantially the same addition power and substantially the same optical prescription for distance vision. Each of the progressive ophthalmic lens elements has a progressive lens design characterized by a set of parameters defining a distance zone providing a refracting power for distance vision, a near zone providing a refracting power for near vision and a corridor having a refracting power varying from that of the distance zone to that of the near zone. The progressive ophthalmic lens elements provide, for a range of values or categories of at least two lifestyle and/or biometric parameters of lens wearers, different progressive lens designs in which at least two of the lens design parameters each have a respective value or characteristic attributable to, or associated with, a particular value or category of a respective one of the lifestyle and/or biometric parameters.

摘要: An ophthalmic lens element is disclosed. The lens element includes a front surface and a rear surface, at least one which includes a horizontal meridian and a vertical meridian. A central region of the lens element includes a foveal vision zone providing a first power for providing clear foveal vision for a wearer. A peripheral region of positive power relative to the first power is also included. The peripheral region includes dual progressive zones located bilaterally of the vertical meridian and extending radially outwardly from the central region. The lens element provides a distribution of surface astigmatism which provides, on the horizontal meridian, a relatively low surface astigmatism in the central region and the progressive zones.

摘要: A method and system for designing a progressive lens is disclosed. The method includes modifying a reference progressive lens design having a peripheral design which is suitable for a wearer and design features with known values. The modification of the reference progressive lens design provides a new progressive lens design in which at least one of the design features have been customized according to the wearer's preference. The new progressive lens design has substantially the same peripheral design as the reference progressive lens design.

摘要: A progressive ophthalmic lens element is disclosed. The progressive ophthalmic lens element includes an upper viewing zone, a lower viewing zone, a corridor, and a peripheral region disposed on each side of the lower viewing zone. The upper viewing zone includes a distance reference point (DRP) and a fitting cross, and provides a first refractive power for distance vision. The lower viewing zone, which is for near vision, provides an addition power relative to the first refractive power. The corridor connects the upper and lower zones and provides a refractive power varying from that of the upper viewing zone to that of the lower viewing zone. Each peripheral region includes a zone of positive power relative to the addition power which provides therein a positive refractive power relative to the refractive power of the lower viewing zone. The zones of relative positive power are disposed immediately adjacent to the lower viewing zone such that the lower viewing zone interposes the zones of relative positive power.

The peripheral region provides an optical correction for retarding or arresting myopia for a wearer and includes one or more regions of relatively higher surface astigmatism, a lower or near viewing zone of low surface astigmatism, and a corridor of low surface astigmatism having a surface power varying from that of the upper viewing zone to that of the lower viewing zone. The lower viewing zone is for a wearer's near vision tasks.

摘要: An ophthalmic lens element (100) for correcting myopia in a wearer's eye is disclosed. The lens element (100) includes a central zone (102) and a peripheral zone (104).
