    摘要: A wireless broadcast system that collects content for distribution over a wireless communication network. Multiple independent content streams can be coarsely interleaved by collecting multiple small segments of content of each stream and rearranging them into larger segments, that are interleaved into an aggregate content stream that is broadcast as an identical signal from multiple transmitters. The broadcast signal can also include information about the interleaved content, such as information identifying the occurrence of a later interleaved instance of the same independent content stream in the aggregate content stream, that can be used by a receiver to activate and deactivate portions of a receiver to conserve power.

    摘要: In a high-rate packet data (HRPD) wireless communication network, an Access Terminal (AT) selects its serving cell, and additionally provides an advance indication of a pending cell selection. Upon receipt of the advance indication, the network directs data packets destined for the AT to the indicated target cell, which queues the data. The target cell obtains a prediction of an amount of data that the currently serving, or source, cell may transmit to the AT between the advance indication and the cell selection. Following the cell selection, the target cell transmits data packets to the AT beginning at an offset into the transmission queue that corresponds to the predicted data amount. When the target cell receives the actual transmitted data amount from the source cell, it may make adjustments in data packet transmission to the AT to ameliorate the effects of any miss-prediction.

    摘要: In a wireless communication network providing voice and data services, one or more entities in the network, such as a base station controller and/or radio base station, can be configured to reduce data services overhead responsive to detecting a congestion condition, thereby increasing the availability of one or more network resources for voice services. In one or more exemplary embodiments, one or more current data services users are targeted for modification of their ongoing data services to effect the reduction in data services overhead. Modifications can include, but are not limited to, any one or more of the following: forward or reverse link data rate reductions, and shifting of forward or reverse link traffic from dedicated user channels to shared user channels. Targeting of users for service modification can be based on reported channel quality information. For example, users reporting poor radio conditions can be targeted first for service modifications.
