A method of making a cellulosic web includes: forming a nascent web from a papermaking furnish, the nascent web having a generally random distribution of papermaking fiber; b) transferring the web having a generally random distribution of papermaking fiber to a translating transfer surface moving at a first speed; drying the web to a consistency of from about 30 to about 60 percent including compactively dewatering the web prior to or concurrently with transfer to the transfer surface; fabric-creping the web from the transfer surface at a consistency of from about 30 to about 60 percent utilizing a creping fabric with a patterned creping surface, the fabric creping step occurring under pressure in a fabric creping nip defined between the transfer surface and the creping fabric wherein the fabric is traveling at a second speed slower than the speed of said transfer surface, the fabric pattern, nip parameters, velocity delta and web consistency being selected such that the web is creped from the transfer surface and redistributed on the creping fabric such that the web has a plurality of fiber-enriched regions arranged in a pattern corresponding to the patterned creping surface of the fabric, optionally drying the wet web while it is held in the creping fabric. Preferably, the formed web is characterized in that its void volume increases upon drawing.
Abstract:
A slow-dissolving troche with polyol molecules is disclosed. It may be an adherent troche, preferably adhered to teeth or gums or cheek with acacia gum, or a lollipop or child's pacifier. Consumers are instructed to use the troches at the end of each day and after each meal, at least four times per day to benefit oral health, particularly caries, gingivitis, periodontitis, ear infections, sinus infections, halitosis and risk of Streptococcus mutans infecting their blood from their mouths. The polyol molecules are preferably xylitol. The troches may be made with a bi-layer tablet press rounded on one side and flat on the other, preferably using acacia gum in the flat side layer for adhesion.

A method, system, and computer program product within a logically partitioned data processing system that includes multiple partitions and a management console are described for displaying messages in a language specified by the console. A language is specified by the management console. The specification is transmitted to each one of the partitions. A message is generated within one of the partitions. The partition then utilizes the specification to select a translation of the message into the language specified by the management console. The translation is then transmitted from the partition to the management console for display by the management console.
Abstract:
A multi-ply absorbent sheet of cellulosic fiber with continuous outer surfaces is provided an absorbent core between the outer surfaces. The absorbent core includes a non-woven fiber network having: (i) a plurality of pileated fiber enriched regions of relatively high local basis weight interconnected by way of (ii) a plurality of lower local basis weight linking regions whose fiber orientation is biased along the direction between pileated regions interconnected thereby, and (iii) a plurality of fiber-deprived cellules between the fiber enriched and linking regions, also being characterized by a local basis weight lower than the fiber enriched regions. The cellules provide a sponge-like internal structure of low fiber density regions.

The present invention is a method of making a near-premium quality paper product having good strength and absorbency characteristics and a product made by that method. The invention is also a method for retaining a high ash content within a paper web formed by conventional wet pressing. The present invention is also a method for retaining a high percentage of softening agent within a paper web that includes such an agent. Further, the present invention is a soft absorbent paper product having a high void volume. Finally, the invention is also a method for producing a soft, absorbent, and near premium paper product having a high void volume using an undulatory crepe blade having a multiplicity of serrulations in its rake surface which presents differentiated creping angles and/or rake angles as to the paper being creped.

A paper machine for manufacturing a structured soft paper web are described, which machine has a wet section, a press section, a drying section and a web-carrying clothing running around a suction device close to a smooth impermeable belt in the press section for the creation of a transfer point. In accordance with the invention, structuring means for structuring the web are arranged between the press section and the drying section. The structuring means comprise either said clothing in the shape of a permeable wire, the structure of which is made up of depressions and arched surface parts, including knuckles in a quantity of 25-150 knuckles per cm2, and a suction device that, at a vacuum of 40-80 kPa, draws the web to the structured side of the wire so that the web acquires the structure of the wire, wherein the wire operates at a speed less than or equal to the speed of the belt, or a creping doctor that is located in a space between the belt and the clothing and in scraping contact with the belt so as to loose the web during simultaneous crinkling, the suction device having a suction gap for initial suction of the web firmly to the clothing for transfer to a drying cylinder. The web-carrying clothing operates then at a speed that is less than the speed of the belt.

A jack stand includes a base having a jacking surface which receives a jack thereon, in which the jack has a main body and a lifting head which can be jacked up. Two support columns extend perpendicularly upward from the base parallel to and spaced apart from one another by a fixed lateral spacing to receive the jack therebetween. A jack body is slidably supported along the two columns and includes a jacking surface on a bottom side thereof so as to be arranged to operatively receive the jack between the two jacking surfaces of the jack body and the base respectively such that operation of the jack displaces the jack body relative to the base. A jack post, upon which an object to be jacked is supported, is slidably supported on the jack body to be adjustable in height independently of a height of the jack body.

The present invention is a method for maximizing water removal from an absorbent web in a press nip. The present invention uses a pressing unit having a blanket with a void volume and with a pressure profile that maximizes water removal in the press section or on the Yankee dryer of a paper machine. The pressure profile of the pressing unit according to the present invention has a very steep pressure drop at and/or following the exit of a pressure distribution curve in order to maximize water removal by minimizing rewet of the web. The improved pressure profile according to the present invention results in increased water removal and/or improved line speed. The void volume further increases water removal and/or improves line speed.

A method of making a fabric-creped absorbent cellulosic sheet comprising: a) compactively dewatering a papermaking furnish to form a nascent web having an apparently random distribution of papermaking fiber; b) applying the dewatered web having the apparently random fiber distribution to a translating transfer surface moving at a first speed; c) fabric-creping the web from the transfer surface at a consistency of from about 30 to about 60 percent utilizing a patterned creping fabric, the creping step occurring under pressure in a fabric creping nip defined between the transfer surface and the creping fabric wherein the fabric is traveling at a second speed slower than the speed of said transfer surface, the fabric pattern, nip parameters, velocity delta and web consistency being selected such that the web is creped from the transfer surface and redistributed on the creping fabric to form a web with a drawable reticulum.
